Five Wishes March 12, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Ethan, Memes & Tags, Parenting & Motherhood , 4commentsI got tagged by Miche after leaving my mark on her blog. I have to list down 5 wishes I make for my kid this year.
My prayers for Ethan Boy:
- That he will learn to sleep through the night soon. Okay, I give chance… if he can sleep from midnight to 7:30a.m. straight, I’ll be satisfied.
- That he will stop biting everything in sight. Ethan shows affection by biting us, on the arm, on the shoulder, on our legs. What can I say, … love bites…and hurts.
- That he will learn the art of speech very well. He can now say “baby”, “mommy” and “daddy” but sometimes he says “mima” and “dida” instead. Go figure.
- That when he is weaned from my breast, he will be able to do so seamlessly, with no “emotional torture” on both his part and my part.
- That the day that Pete and Ethan gets to go to the padang to kick a football around will come soon
- …. can I have one more please? …. that he will learn good dental hygiene soon! He is now *very* wary when we show him his toothbrush. Sometimes he will keep his mouth shut when we try to brush his teeth.
There, done! I’m not tagging anyone for this one, cos most of the mommies out there have been tagged.
Time does not the pain healeth March 12, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Close to Heart & Home , 4commentsLast week the mass media reported that the Court of Appeal has upheld the death sentence meted to Canny Ong’s murderer after he filed an appeal. It has been three and a half years since the incident and I was still engulfed with sadness.
Canny was my ex-classmate and a good friend of mine. Her murder was a shock to us all. It’s true what they say that the wound has healed but the pain is still there. And I don’t think it will ever go away. We’ll always love and miss you, dear Canny.
An eventful lunch March 9, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Drooling & Cooking, Thoughts & Scribblings , 2commentsMy hubby and I like to make it a point to have lunch together, especially on Fridays. Today was no exception. We made our way to Queensbay Mall and headed for Kenny Rogers restaurant, since based on previous experiences, this restaurant served good food and also had fast service.
Being frequent diners at the restaurant, we already knew what we wanted and motioned a waitress to take our orders. The usual quarter meals and drinks. Pete wanted a glass of warm water because he was still barred from iced water since he had his cough sometime back.
Waitress: We only have bottled water, sir
Pete: No, I don’t want bottled water. Just plain warm water for me will do.
Waitress: We don’t have warm water, just bottled water.
Pete: What?!! No warm water? But I’ve ordered warm water here before.
Waitress: We were told to inform customers that we only have bottled water now.
Pete: Why?
Waitress: I also donno why. That was what we were told.
Me: Can we speak to your manager? (hehe….always scares them right off)
Waitress: Hang on, let me check. (leaves the table)
Waitress (after a short while): Sir, we only have bottled water.
Pete: No, I only want warm water.
Waitress showed pissed-off face and scribbled something, then walked away.
I just don’t understand why they can’t serve warm water. They have a kitchen right? And I don’t believe they don’t have warm water in the kitchen.
After waiting for about 20 minutes, our food finally came. Hunger had already turned to boredom. Not good.
Three men walked in, dressed in coats and ties. One of them started giving orders to the people working behind the counter. It became apparent that he was the manager of the outlet. The other 2 men sat at the table beside us, talking loudly whilst checking the menu and making their orders. Suddenly one of them pointed at my drink (I had iced milo) and said “You have milo ah? Gimme one glass of iced milo!” All this while he was holding the menu in his hands! Is he that incapable of reading off the menu that he has to use my drink as a reference?! To make matters worse, one of the other men at the table started to demand for their food loudly.
Well, their food arrived too, but it was apparent that they only had to wait like 5 minutes. Why? Because they were guests of the manager? Because they spoke loudly and demanded the food from the waitress each time she walked by? Tsk tsk tsk… hubbs and I would definitely have given them a piece of our minds had their food arrived BEFORE ours.
A Letter from Lebanon March 8, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Thoughts & Scribblings , 7commentsYesterday we received a reply from our sponsored child in Lebanon. My hubby and I have been sponsoring a little girl in Lebanon for a little over a year now. In a child sponsorship program initiated by World Vision, we pay RM50 per month to provide for her education and upbringing.
We were really worried last year when the war hit Lebanon. We tried to send her a letter just to see how she was, but the post office was not able to deliver to the destination as the post offices in Lebanon were also destroyed at that time, as was the World Vision office there. So as soon as we could, we managed to send her a letter (I guess about 2 months back). It was a relief to receive her reply yesterday, and it was good to know also that all of the children under the World Vision sponsorship program in Lebanon are safe.
It’s really good and heartwarming to read about her progress and to know that we are making a difference in someone else’s life.
The “view” at The View March 7, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Close to Heart & Home, Drooling & Cooking , 8commentsMy colleagues and I went for an (all-paid-for) team lunch at The View at the Equatorial today. It’s our all-time popular place to go to. Everytime there is a visitor, go to The View. Whenever someone is due to give a treat, go to The View. In fact, when we reached the place, the waiter even recognized my boss.
Anyways, I just realized that I did not have any food pictures from The View from previous visits (too excited about the food, din even think of taking photos). This time round, a lot of people brought along their canggih phones and cameras, so I joined in the crowd.
I ordered the ribeye steak with bearnaise sauce, because as I recall from my previous visit, it was done to absolute perfection. Medium, just the way I like it. Today, I was mortified. My steak came overcooked and well done. So much for perfection.
Luckily the appetizers and dessert made up for the lousy entree. BURP!

End of Piggy CNY March 6, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Relax & Celebrate , 1 comment so farAs the festivities of the Piggy Chinese New Year draws to a close with Chap Goh Meh a couple of days ago, I reminisce what happened throughout the 15 days of celebration:
-
We put up our very first live pussy willow branches to adorn and decorate our living room for Chinese New Year. I love pussy willows. And don’t you think I did a good job decorating it as well?

-
The authorities have yet to crack down on the use of firecrackers. We still hear and see firecrackers being fired up throughout Chinese New Year. Peak usage of firecrackers was during the eve of CNY, 8th night of CNY and chap-goh-meh.
-
I “lou-sang” 4 times this year. Will I be more prosperous? Only time will tell…..:

Have a good year ahead everyone!
Meme: Stuff that I Like March 2, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Blogging, Memes & Tags , 5commentsGot tagged by Angeleyes. It’s a list of stuff that I like. Here goes:
- Singing: I love singing, and karaoke singing especially. Hey, I do the mike justice okay? I have not done karaoke-ing in a bit now. Love it, love it, love it!
- Watching TV: My hubby calls me a TV addict. My favorite programs are Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy and American Idol (given that I love singing) and most recently, Heroes!
- Broadway Musicals: I pride myself in being a person who is artistic and musically inclined. So far, I have managed to catch Cats, Riverdance and The Sound of Music in a theater.
- Sweating it out in the gym: I used to go gymming thrice a week (at least), doing weight training and dance classes, even till I was 7 months preggers. Nothing beats the endorphins you get as you exercise. Now, the only exercise I get is chasing after my little boy. Slightly different kind of endorphins, but makes me happy all the same.
- Dancing: Anything goes. In fact I was involved in several dance presentations in my school days and also a few years ago during the Penang Bridge Run after-run concert. I prefer hip hop and jazz to ballroom dancing though.
- Cooking: I try to cook during the weekends, cos I love experimenting with food. And it’s fun receiving compliments from hubby too! Home-cooked food is always the best.
- Shopping: Be it window shopping or non-window shopping (i.e. shopping spree), I’ll be there. I have tons of shopping cards and discount cards. You name it, I’ve got it. Clothes, handbags, shoes, perfumes… and now, and additional shopping item category: Baby Products
BrainwashingPreachingEducating people about breastfeeding: Its perks, its benefits, etcetra, etcetra, etcetra. I can do this onandon because I have first hand experience now. Hubbs even commented that I can open a lactation consultation service. ;)
There, another meme done (pats myself on back). I’m passing this on to:
- Shooi - I’ve checked that you have not done this meme before, so since you’ve tagged me a coupla times, this one’s for ya!
- Jolenesiah - I’m tagging you just for fun!
- Simply Hantam - I just found out that you are also an ardent Idol fan.
New toy? March 2, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Thoughts & Scribblings , 2commentsFor many moons, Pete and I have procrastinated about getting that digital video camcorder to record (mainly) Ethan’s progress, antics and development. Lately however, we are thinking of getting a cellphone (for moi) which incorporates a videocam, a camera and also serves the purpose as a phone. Psst…the camera portion is to enable me to *freely* capture shots at my will for blogging. Hehehe….. I guess Pete got tired of me bugging him to download the photos we take with our trusted camera.
Being a Nokia person myself, we’re actually contemplating getting a Nokia N73. The ad for this phone promotes it as a cool gadget for bloggers! Need I say more? So what do you think? Should we geddit?

Which action hero would you be? March 2, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Relax & Celebrate , 2commentsI did this interesting (but rather cheong-hei) quiz after reading about it from the Simple American. Apparently, if I were to become an action hero, I would be James Bond (or the female version of agent 007, obviously):

You scored as James Bond, Agent 007. James Bond is MI6’s best agent, a suave, sophisticated super spy with charm, cunning, and a license’s to kill. He doesn’t care about rules or regulations and somewhat amoral. He does care about saving humanity though, as well as the beautiful women who fill his world. Bond has expensive tastes, a wide knowledge of many subjects, and his usually armed with a clever gadget and an appropriate one-liner.
