Yummies across the seas!

Woohoo! Thanks to my thoughtful bro and sis-in-law, we get to enjoy a tiny little piece of Chinese New Year from back home, still within the 15 days of celebrations!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

aw i just bought wo lai yeh for the first time after many many years last month (bcoz i couldn’t find hock bee hiong being sold anywhere) and i was really disappointed! the taste isnt very good and the individual packing is so wasteful. but i guess its a good idea if you’re sending it overseas!

The Giddy Tigress says: Ooh, any kind of bak kwa is good for us here! LOL

  2. jemima says:

WOW! The US customs & quarantine dept actually let that through???

That would never have reached you if you are in OZ. 😛

The Giddy Tigress says: I guess it never got opened, that’s why. Plus in that packaging, it doesn’t emit a strong smell!

  3. Paik Ling says:

Wahhh itu pun boleh?? Looks like I have very little excuse not to send the siew paus over!

The Giddy Tigress says: Yeah, so when are they gonna be here huh? You want my address? *wink*

Ooooh the husband will be most envious if he sees this. He’s been craving for bak kua for ages, and wanted me to smuggle it in. I chickened out :p. Tak sampai hati to buy here, ‘cos it’s very expensive. Methinks I’ll get him some just to ease that craving this weekend 🙂

The Giddy Tigress says: Yeah, let me know how that goes. Bak kwa is sometimes comfort food for some people 🙂

  5. Dawn says:

The US customs confiscated the 300 grams from the parcel before it even reached me. And my hubs tried to “smuggle” them back but was found in his luggage and fined USD300. The most expensive bak kua!!! You are lucky!

The Giddy Tigress says: Wow….I am speechless, and will cherish EVERY BITE of the bak kwa now 🙂

  6. Irene says:

waaaaaaahh… im surprised too, it passed the customs 🙂

The Giddy Tigress says: I was grinning ear to ear when I received the package! It was definitely a pleasant surprise!

I didn’t know this can be send to US. Last time I wanted to send spices, the post officer told me no food to US.

The Giddy Tigress says: Well, as long as you do not declare it as such, it should be fine. Teehee…

  8. PB says:

Woot! A taste of home and CNY 😀 Gong Xi Fa Cai!

The Giddy Tigress says: Will taste it tonight, hopefully! 🙂

  9. Bart says:

    Happy Chinese New Year!

The Giddy Tigress says: Happy Chinese New Year to you too!

  10. BlurMommy says:

The Giddy Tigress says: You bet we did!
