Sort me here, sort me there November 13, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Memes & Tags , 9commentsSome years ago, I won two free tickets to watch a Harry Potter movie. I think it was the Prisoner of Azkaban. Both my hubby and I were not Harry Potter fans, and it was going to be the first Harry Potter movie for both of us. I remember it was also on a weeknight and the movie was to be shown in the GSC cineplex in Gurney Plaza, which was a good 30-minute drive away.
So anyway, off we both went, got our popcorns and drinks and waited outside for the usher to allow us in. There was a quite a large crowd there already, apparently everyone also got free tickets! The free movie was a contest held by a movie magazine (I forgot the name of the magazine) and there was a journalist present. She was talking to a few people, and then as luck would have it, she zoomed in on my hubby and I.
She asked my hubby, “So, who is your favorite Harry Potter character?”
Hubby replied, “Errr… which one if Harry Potter?”
Hehe…. Anyway, pun aside, I was reminded of that date hubby and I had when I discovered Healy had invited me take a Harry Potter-related sorting quiz. Call me ignorant, but I simply have no idea what different Hogwarts houses there are (Hog what??? hehehe) , but all the better because I will have an unbiased view of this test. So I took the quiz, and here’s the house I got sorted into:
Which Hogwarts house will you be sorted into?
After taking the quiz, a feeling of déjà vu swept over me because I remember quite distinctly that I had taken it a while back before… and whaddya know? Some sleuthing around revealed that I had indeed taken it a few months ago, when I read about Paris’s results. Oddly enough, back then, I got sorted into the Hufflepuff house. Have I changed that much in 4 months? Am I suddenly more brave, chivalrous and courageous?

I know what you’re all thinking, “Not -another- sorting quiz!”, but before you get bored and leave, let me say a few things about it. This is not the ordinary sorting quiz that you’re used to. Unlike all those other quizzes infesting the Internet, this quiz actually sorts you for who you are as a person, not because your favorite animal is a lion.
I made this quiz as a reaction to all the bad sorting quizzes. The problem with most of the existing quizzes, is that the questions rarely have anything to do with which house you would actually be sorted into. Your favorite color doesn’t effect which house you belong to. Not every Gryffindor likes defense against the dark arts, not every Slytherin likes potions. Just look at Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Each is in Gryffindor, but each has a completely different disposition. Harry’s father was often a bully and a thief, yet he was still in Gryffindor.
This quiz will actually ask you psychological questions with a variety of answers that can’t easily be determined as to which house they fit into. This was meant to be more like what the Sorting Hat does. Just remember though that you must answer these questions truthfully in order to get an accurate answer.
Also these questions are written to take place in our world, not the world of Harry Potter. I didn’t give a Harry Potter theme to the quiz because the answers are more accurate this way. As Muggles, we don’t have any idea what it’s like to be faced with a troll or a bogart and we’ve never played quiddich. Our answers may be skewed as to how our favorite characters would act instead of ourselves. However, we all know what it’s like to live in the Muggle world because we do it every day.
Please take the test and copy paste this *master list* after you are sorted and don’t forget to tag your friends! Let’s see which tower has the most members!
Gryffindor: Karen Adrian Eric Speedcat Giddy Tiger
Slytherin:
Ravenclaw: Mr. Fong Jojo kasper794, Wen
Hufflepuff: Trinity Amel Jo-N Anggie, Everyday Healy

Okay, I have a confession to make. This tag was just an excuse for me to narrate that Harry Potter story up there, so I’m not gonna tag anyone today. Besides, I’m so tired now. SIGH. It’s a five-day week and it’s only Tuesday!!!!
Healthy & hearty breakfast November 9, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Drooling & Cooking, Memes & Tags , 13commentsThe RPS Overlord wants to know what I have for breakfast every day? Well, it depends (on whether it is Rock, Paper or Scissors this time round). Kidding! So I know, I know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and I honestly try to eat something healthy every day. But sometimes taste overrules the healthy aspect of it, you know what I mean?
On working days, I wake up, slide quietly out of bed while the boys are still asleep and put the kettle to boil. Then I make myself a nice cup of hot chocolate or Milo, whichever suits my fancy. And usually I will have either one wholemeal nine-grain bun or one hi-fibre sunflower seed bun. No fuss, no mess. If there are no buns are available, breakfast will be two slices of bread with a slice of cheese. But lately I have been influenced (in part) by Zara’s Mama and her healthy breakfast. Although I don’t follow her recipe to the tee, I now sometimes take half-boiled free range chicken eggs (kampung chicken eggs la) for breakfast. They do taste better than the normal chicken eggs, I feel. That’s my normal day breakfast. Rather simple and not as diversified as Ehon’s, hor? Well, on weekends, it’s normally a light breakfast, followed by a brunch, usually dim sum, laden with siew mais, lormaikais, egg tarts and char siew paus. Counted also, right? Brunch = breakfast + lunch what…

Rinnah, care to share what you have for breakfast? Nasi lemak on the go? Latté? Mc-D’s big breakfast? Or come to Penang, and we go for dim sum together, want?
So overwhelmed with pride November 9, 2007

In life, there are so many things that one can be proud of. I was proud of myself when I got good results in my SPM. I was proud of myself when I was able to be independent. And there are countless other moments when I was filled with pride too. But Ehon has asked me to name just ONE moment, so out of all I am going to say my proudest moment was when I gave birth to Ethan boy. The feeling and realization that I was actually bringing a life into the world was extraordinary. I was overcome with joy and emotion as soon as I heard that baby screaming and crying ! I will never forget that experience, ever. And I highly recommend it to everyone. Women, I mean
Well, the daddies can be proud too by being in the same delivery room when baby is born.
1. Ehon’s proudest moment is when he swept 5 out of 6 trophies at a State First Aid Competition.
2. Giddy Tiger’s proudest moment is when she brought Ethan boy into the world.
And here I am spreading the love today, by tagging:

All simply because I blog November 7, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Blogging, Memes & Tags, Thoughts & Scribblings , 17commentsBecause I blog, I have made so many friends the world over. In fact, I have reconnected with some long-lost buddies as well through my blog. Some of the friends I have made are people whom I may not have met before, but still know what I have been up to, thanks to my blog. And because I blog, I’ve received special blog awards and wishes too, which in a way, tell me that I am being appreciated. These really make my day, just like yesterday, when I received a simple yet thoughtful blogging wish from Wen. And so, I’m passing this same blogging wish today to Rinnah, Pink Elle, Paris and Chinnee. Have a happy fruitful blogging day today, y’all!

Because I blog, I won 2 tickets to watch Bee, the movie on Deepavali tomorrow from my hosting provider, Exabytes. All I had to do was fill up a survey, and they sent me the invite! But I’m gonna have to forgo that because Ethan is not yet three years old, hence he would not be allowed into the cinema. So instead of wasting the free tix, I made arrangements to have them transferred to my friend. Because I blog, my friend and her hubby will get the opportunity to watch this movie for free.
Because I blog, I just discovered that I have been declared one of the 25 winners of the month of October for Nuffnang’s Friday’s contest. This would mean I get a FREE dinner for two at one of my favoritest restaurants, Friday’s. And I can’t wait to claim it!

Now, who says blogging ain’t worth it?

Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Memes & Tags , 8commentsI think this tag that Shooi has passed to me is asking me to spurt out the first word or phrase that comes to my mind, but the word or phrase has to begin with the first letter of my name. So I am in a quandary here. Do I use the first letter of my real name or the first letter of my blogging moniker? In order to avoid disagreements, I shall do both, since I am in a good mood today.
Here’s how it works:
Use the first letter of your name to answer each question. Must be places, names…Nothing made up. Can’t use own name for boy/girl’s name question. If can’t answer, skip to next one.

I’m sitting here, chewing on some yummy Halloween Gummy Spiders Candy and I’m thinking to myself, “Aren’t we bloggers a revealing lot?” We tell everyone what happens in our lives, and sometimes we even document stuff that we wouldn’t ordinarily tell our friends. I guess there is something about seeing your thoughts plastered all over the internet and the knowledge that people all over the net would be able to read it that tantalizes a blogger. Of course, it is up to the individual blogger to draw the line as to what to reveal and what to hold back, but essentially by blogging, our lives are a wide-open book. Some bloggers blog about their lives in such excruciating detail that it seems as though they may very well be going up to a stranger on the street to tell him, “Hey, my kid pooped twice today!” And isn’t it a little bit odd that people whom you have not even met or spoken to before know exactly what you had for breakfast or dinner last night? Blogging certainly takes privacy to a whole new level.

In a similarly odd fashion, blogs reach out to strangers all around the world. Some of them would leave a comment or two, some will virtually poke and tickle, some stubbornly ask “How come?” and yet some choose just to remain the strong silent type. And I am fine with all of them. Really! So that’s why this treat from Wen comes at an opportune time…well, it was in conjunction with Halloween but I am posting this a day late. Originating from Hootin’ Anni, the twist to this is to pass it on to random blog visitors. Yes, no one will be left unscathed now…. And just to jazz it up, I will pass this treat on to my two latest first-time commentors, Kerry & Sting, all in the hopes that this will prod you guys to say something?
Happy belated Halloween everyone! Hope y’all had a splendid trick-or-treatin’ time!

Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Close to Heart & Home, Memes & Tags , 30commentsMy hubby and I were dressed to the nines. It was the night of our wedding and we had every reason to celebrate. The grand ballroom was decorated with ivory roses and the stage was lit with fairy lights that made the whole evening seemed dreamlike. All eyes were on us and as we danced to “The Way You Look Tonight”, there was only one word to describe it all: Magical.
And then the leader of the band announced that my MIL (who knew that I love to sing) had requested that I get up on stage to sing a song. Gosh, I knew this was coming.

Being the complete sport that I was, I carefully stepped up on stage and asked the members of the band if they had the words to Shania Twain’s “From This Moment On”. It was a song that I had sung at my BIL’s wedding several years back and it was a good song for a wedding, I thought. They said no, but I decided to go ahead and try to remember the words and sing it anyway. I told them to play it in the key of G. As I sang the first note, the crowd cheered. And everything went well until one particular note where my voice decided to BREAK at that very instant! On that one note, I really wanted to bury my head in whatever item I could find. But embarrassing though it may be, my guests all clapped (bless them!). Maybe they were all drunk or something. Sigh.
So when I was recently asked by Paris to recall my most embarrassing moment, I couldn’t remember any other more recent embarrassing moment; hence this would have to be it.
And today, exactly three years have passed and I can still remember that incident. In fact, it has also been caught on video! *shudder* Would I have a chance to redeem myself in future? Time will only tell.
Three years of wedded bliss, three years since we said “I do” and pledge our undying love for each other. And you know what, my love? I still do, and I always will.

Now it’s time to be sam-pat October 26, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Memes & Tags , 13commentsOver the past week or so, I have seen so many sam-pat questionnaires being done that I was beginning to feel guilty about not doing mine. You see, I had been tagged thrice over the last week by Jacelyn, cbenc12 and Rinnah to do this sam-pat (38) questionnaire tag. Oh well. Let’s get on with it and have some laughs at the same time, huh?

14. What excites you? The very mention of not having to work.

35. Are you currently depressed? No, cos the weekend’s here!
36. Did you cry today? No.

Pink Elle tagged me with this supposedly easy tag (but I discovered while doing it that it does take a little bit of thinking). Now, her tag gets to cut queue cos I already *know* who I wanna tag, but I don’t think anyone will beat me to tagging her cos this tag only requires one taggee! Ha… besides, how difficult can this be? I only need to complete the sentences below however I want to.
- I’ve come to realize that my last kiss was so much sweeter than the one before it.
- I am listening to Beautiful (As You)
- I talk most of the time but not all of the time, and only when I need to.
- I love spending rainy mornings in bed, under the covers, just listening to the pit-pattering of rain drops on the roof.
- My best friends are Jesus and the voice of my heart,… oh and my hubby, of course!
- My Car is going to turn into a beemer when I say “Transform NOW!”… nah, didn’t work….shucks.
- My love life is a beautiful blessing from God and so much more than I could have ever envisioned it to be.
- I hate it when people ask “Why?” repeatedly.
- Love is blind, but not all of the time!
- Marriage is a lifetime commitment, and a wedding starts that commitment off on the right footing.
- Somewhere, someone is thinking of what to get me for my birthday!
- I’m always looking forward to the next holiday, or non-working day.
- I have a secret cheesy crush on (I can’t believe it) no one! I guessed I moved past that phase already… but if it’s a secret crush, then I wouldn’t be revealing it here, right?
- My cell phone is a favorite toy of Ethan’s
- When I wake up in the morning I check to see if it’s a work day, if not, then I plonk myself back into bed.
- When I go to bed at night I thank God for the day that has drifted past me, and thank Him for the day to come.
- Right now I am thinking about the weekend that starts in a few hours’ time.
- Babies are the closest thing to heaven, ever.
- I get on myspace never. Facebook, anyone?
- Today I am nursing a slightly tight and sore throat, which I hope will mysteriously go away when evening comes.
- Tonight I will hopefully start off on my latest John Grisham novel.
- Tomorrow I will have a fun-filled Saturday, with no worries in the world!
- I really want to start exercising soon!
- Someone that will most likely repost this is… Rinnah because really, how can I not tag her?
