Life is short.
Too short to be spent just participating in the rat race, waking up at unearthly hours and sleeping way past midnight, only to find yourself waking up bleary-eyed in the morning again, caught in that same vicious cycle.
Too short to be spent meeting deadlines, achieving someone else’s goals and not your own and doing something day in and day out, which you don’t feel a passion for.
Bottom line is, we all should take the time to smell the roses, go for a drink with friends, throw caution to the wind, sink our teeth into that sinful piece of cheesecake, dance in the rain, get a massage, tell someone you love them. Do something that makes you happy. Life is too short to not to that TODAY. That’s why I ended up getting myself a brand new dress last weekend, which I absolutely love.
During my last trip to Ipoh, my Mom told me the shocking news that my stepcousin in Sydney just had a close shave with death. He is a gynaecologist, and was on his way to deliver a baby in the middle of the night when he was carjacked, stuffed into the boot and his car was set ablaze. Thankfully his boot opened in the nick of time, and he jumped out. He remarked that as he thought he was about to die, his thoughts were that of his wife, his kids and the lady he was about to deliver a baby for. This got me to thinking that life is indeed short, and we need to be thankful for what we have right here, right now. The saying that we should live each day as if it were our last couldn’t be too far from the truth. We never know what would happen to us today, or tomorrow or even next week. Go ahead…live today for yourself. Bicker away if you must, but at the end of the day, make sure you are happy… cos you know, that’s really all that counts.
Good sharing..now i have excuse to pamper myself again..LOL!
The Giddy Tiger says: You don’t need an excuse. Just do it! 🙂
Yes, in the end, all that matters is love, not money. Though money does help a lot in making it more comfy..
The Giddy Tiger says: Totally!
It’s true.. life is short..
I just gave up a high potential post as a program manager for a very visible program in the company. Just because it’s eating too much of my night time.. with meetings meetings and meetings.
Really lucky your step cousin is alright.
The Giddy Tiger says: Yup. Sometimes it is advantageous to just take a step back and look at things at a 12,000ft level.
Yeap, not forgetting our dear colleague going to face death maybe due to her cancer…so sad really. Life is short.
The Giddy Tiger says: So true. We need to count our blessings each day and make each day count.
carpe diem indeed! probably one of the reasons why I made the move here and not stay in KL…
The Giddy Tiger says: Sure seems to be the right move ya made!
Well said! And I’m glad your cousin is ok after that harrowing experience. And with that, I end my quest for yet more bee kim and will go to bed so I don’t look like a panda at the office tmw. 🙂
The Giddy Tiger says: Bee kim, bee kim, where art thou? There’s always tonight…
aiyo..ur cousin is real lucky to survive that!!!
The Giddy Tiger says: Yup. I agree.
Ya…life is short. So, I always reminded to count the blessing…
The Giddy Tiger says: SO true.
You are absolutely right. Life’s too short. Better live life as if it’s your last day on earth. You’ll learn to appreciate life and your surroundings more.
Btw, nice blog and I like your writing style. I’ll be back soon. ^^
The Giddy Tiger says: Thanks for the compliment. See ya.
Gotta keep on reminding myself to live in the moment… life is indeed precious!
The Giddy Tiger says: Very true. People tend to say they’ll do something “later” but “later” when?
This is so true. Everyday I thank God for giving me another day of life. But I also thank him for bringing me closer to eternity. Every day passing is closer to the inevitable end.
Must live it in a way that honors him. And when I slip, recognize that and confess my iniquity so I am always ready to meet him.
Great post.
Glad your cousin escaped too. Crazy world.
The Giddy Tiger says: Well said. It’s a pity though that most of the time people only think of God when they think of mortaility.
