Income Tax e-Filing: Attempt #3 March 30, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Thoughts & Scribblings , 2commentsMy SIL managed to get me a new PIN from the IRB office since my first and second attempts were unsuccessful. Been so busy for the past few days doing memes/tags that I didn’t get the chance to try it out.
Finally today, I tried logging into the income tax e-filing system, keyed in the new PIN and my IC no. and ….. yippeeee…….it works now. At least I know I EXIST. And I can now file my tax returns. Hope nothing will go wrong from now on.
So if you experienced the same problem I did, all you need to do is go to the IRB office with your file no. and IC no. and request for a new PIN. Don’t ask me why we have to go through the hassle just to pay income tax. DUH.
Motherhood and Me March 30, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Close to Heart & Home, Parenting & Motherhood , 3commentsHas motherhood changed who I am? It certainly has not changed my identity, but as Ethan approaches 14 months tomorrow, I am amazed at the different perspectives I am viewing life through now.
Before I became a mommy, I would scan sales brochures and catalogs for good deals on cosmetics, clothes, shoes…. the gamut. Now the first thing I look out for is if there is a special sale for Mamy Poko diapers.
Before I became a mommy, I would frequent the gym at least a couple of times a week. I told myself that when Ethan came along, I would rush to the gym after work and then pick him up after that. But now I find myself NOT doing that. Instead I look forward to picking him up after work and then going home after that. Of course, I still crave the exercising at the gym part, but at least for now, my exercise regime has transformed dramatically into running around the house looking after Ethan.
Before I became a mommy, breastfeeding was just something that boosts the child’s immunity and intelligence. After breastfeeding for 14 months (and counting), I know for a fact the breastfeeding involves so much more than just that. Apart from creating a child with higher immunity, breastfeeding strengthens the emotional bond between mother and child, a bond that no formula milk could ever create. Also due to the fact that I am still working, I have had the chance to interact with mothers from all different departments when I meet them at the nursing mothers’ room at work. Call it networking if you may.
Before motherhood, we would go to any restaurant without so much as noticing if they have baby facilities. Now, only restaurants with baby chairs that pass our scrutiny will be allowed. More points for outlets with breastfeeding and diaper-changing facilities. Oh by the way, last I checked, the Mc-D’s outlet at Queensbay Mall had NO baby chairs whatsoever.
So has motherhood changed me? You bet. It has made me a better person, 100%.
Yummy Treat at Friday’s March 29, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Close to Heart & Home, Drooling & Cooking, Relax & Celebrate , 4comments
My hubby treated a few of his ex-subordinates to a scrumptious lunch at T.G.I.Friday’s at Queensbay Mall today. The saying goes that behind every successful man is a successful woman…so of course I got to tag along too! Yayyay…..I’m a Friday’s fan…so naturally I was elated like nobody’s business. Friday’s was eeriely unoccupied when we arrived (feels so different from Saturday nights when almost every table is occupied). We sat near the wall with musical legends…Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley and the like…

I remembered that I wanted to order the strawberry milkshake because it was really good when I had it at Friday’s 1-Utama. Was it as good today? Well, the shake was good, creamy and thick but not as thick as the one in 1-U as far as I can remember.

We ordered the Friday’s Mushrooms for our appetizer, which I must say was superb. Deep fried button mushrooms…..oohlala….I’ve never tasted anything like it before and it’s now up there with nachos as my favorite appetizer. Crisp on the outside and mushroom-like on the inside (duh?), it went down perfectly with the sour cream. Yummy….we could hardly wait for our entrees.

After about 15 minutes, the food came (at last). We were SO HUNGRY!!!
I ordered the Smothered Steak (yeah that’s what they call it cos it’s smothered in cheese and some sauce) while my other giddy half ordered the NY Chargrilled StripSteak. We ordered them medium rare (did I mention we’re meat people?). Verdict: My steak was fantastic, done just right and tasted really good - slicing the meat revealed RED meat oozing with a little bit of blood, medium rare just the way I like it. The portion was also just right, not too big… so I could finish it, no problems. Certainly recommended to the discerning steak lover. I also loved the mashed potatoes which was prepared with the skin: mashed to perfection with all the wholesome goodness….. drooling yet? Hubbs’ steak on the other hand, was a tad too hard and “tendon”-like; the serving was really HUMUNGOUS. He said it was “okay only”.

I really enjoyed the meal and we were so FULL after lunch … really dreaded that we had to go back to work….SIGH…..and burp! (Excuse me!)

Huh? March 28, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Relax & Celebrate , 7commentsLately we have been inundated with mailers advertising for home-cleaning services. Being a condo-dweller, it is very often that we receive mails of all kinds since it is very easy for people to drop their adverts into our mailboxes, being centrally located and all. Anyways, these home-cleaning services are all the rage now, and although hubbs and I don’t make use of these services, I know of many friends who do.
Yesterday, we received this peculiar advert in our mailbox.

So are they making fun of us ah? First they tell us that we don’t have time to clean our home, then they tell us that they CAN’T help us??!!! Go figure…
My Ultimate Dream Vacation March 28, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Memes & Tags, Relax & Celebrate , 25commentsAngeleyes has tagged me with the vacation tag, where I need to describe my dream vacation. Actually ummmm….., I’ve already BEEN on my dream vacation…I’m blessed that way, aren’t I? :) Hubbs and I honeymooned in the Maldives and yeah, that’s my dream vacation. Of course, I would like to bring Ethan there someday too, so it’s kinda a dream vacation as well.
Maldives was so pretty and picturesque…memories of our honeymoon there is poignant too, because we were there about 6 weeks before the tsunami hit. I contacted the hotel we stayed in after the disaster and they confirmed that fortunately there was only minimal damage to the resort, and that business was back to normal now.

Passing the Chain Along March 28, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Blogging, Memes & Tags , 2commentsI just remembered getting tagged by Suzette several weeks back. This is more like a chain post tag - remember the infamous chain letter people used to send around? This tag is touted to boost one’s site’s PR - let’s see if it works.
**Instructions**
The premise is simple: Write a post, and copy and paste my list from below into it. Make sure the links are active and correct. If your blog is on that list, remove it because your post isn’t about self-promotion. Don’t worry, because if your name is on mine, it’s on others and will spread. Add your favourite deserving blogs to the top of the list (not compulsory). Publish the post. People will notice the incoming links, and hopefully write their own z-list posts. The result will be that we all get more links pointing to our blogs, and more readers - got to be good!
Key Points
- Create a new post on your blog.
- Copy and Paste the entire list of blog links below
- Add any blogs that you want to include near the top of the list. (Optional)
- Include the blog where you first got the list from (in your case case please include Giddy Tigers), on the ‘original list’ in your post.
- Do not include your own blog links on the list in your post.
- Make sure that all links are copied intact.
- Publish the Post.

Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Memes & Tags, Relax & Celebrate , 5commentsI seriously need my Heroes fix. For the past couple of weeks, my hubby and I have been overdosing (and loving it) on Heroes. We’ve now completed all 18 episodes (Seasons 1 and 2) and are eagerly awaiting the upcoming Season 3. Don’t worry, I’m not gonna give any spoilers…. SO…. because I have been bored these few days with no Heroes and all, I was thrilled when I stumbled upon this Heroes Personality Test… okay okay, I googled for it. Haha.
So the Heroes personality that I most resemble is…….
Artistic Jewelry March 26, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Rainmakers , add a commentThe month of May will be here soon, a month of weddings galore, Mothers’ Day, Teachers’ Day and also my Mom’s birthday. Every year, I’ll be cracking my head trying to decide what gift to get for these special occasions. And this year, for the second time, I qualify to celebrate Mothers’ Day too
My favorite place to source for gifts is on the internet. Besides the convenience of shopping at home, I can also enjoy a hot cuppa while I browse the endless variety of gifts online. Recently I stumbled on an awesome Native American Jewelry store online called Native Artistry. This site prides itself in beautifully hand crafted Native American Jewelry, Sterling Silver Jewelry, Southwestern Jewelry, Turquoise Jewelry and other accessories. Each piece is individually hand made by Native American Indians in the Four Corners Region , where AZ, CO, NM and UT intersect. And you know, when it comes to buying presents for women, get a piece of jewelry and you will never go wrong!
A browse through the site revealed that the jewelry pieces they carry transcends all ages and cultures. I can imagine a teenager looking really hip and happening wearing this Sterling Silver & Turquoise Shadow Box Bear Claw Bolo Tie, a masterpiece of a bolo featuring a stunning hand cut turquoise stone. It would absolutely make her the talk of her friends! I love the traditional design which is authentic yet modern, the stone being set off on the sterling silver.
I can also envision this pair of earrings, the Rainbow Cal-Silica Earrings set in Sterling Silver, complementing any outfit fabulously, be it a cheongsam, a saree or a sarong kebaya. This is definitely a versatile keepsake.
I am also enthralled by the fantastic collection of pendants and necklaces, which are all reeking with sophistication, yet had subtle hints of rebellion. I especially like this Sterling Silver Bead & Charoite Necklace, which is such a feminine masterpiece. I love the purplish hues of the pendant against the sterling silver. A definite eye-catcher anytime.
The collection of jewelry at this Native American Jewelry store is a feast for the eyes. In addition to the quality of products offered, Native Artistry has a 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed policy, where you will be given a full refund for any product you are not satisfied with. How’s that for a sweet deal? And to top it all off, all orders of Native American Jewelry and Turquoise Jewelry qualify for free shipping (USPS Priority).
This is truly an amazing one-stop jewelry store, with an edge. Beautiful bracelets, necklaces, earrings, pendants… you name it, they’ve got it!

Musical Flashback March 23, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Blogging, Memes & Tags, Relax & Celebrate , 6commentsI came in to work this morning and discovered that I had the honor of being tagged by the Simple American. It’s a fun meme to do because it has to do with music, which I absolutely LURVE! Here’s what it requires:
- Go to PopCulture site.
- Pick the year you turn 18 years old. You’ll see the years on the left sidebar.
- Get yourself nostalgic over the songs from that year.
- Write something about how those songs affected you.
- Pass it on to five more friends.
Throughout my life, music has played an integral role in every aspect of it. Heck, there were times when I studied for my exams with music in the background. Seriously! So the songs I see now in the list really do jolt my memory as I recall what each one meant to me (psst! Not gonna reveal which year they are from..you gotta go find that out!). The year I turned 18 was the year after I sat for my SPM, so basically a throw-caution-to-the-wind-because-the-major-exam-is-over year.
- I’m Too Sexy (Right Said Fred)- one of the most overplayed ANTHEMS of all time. People everywhere were going “I’m too sexy for my food, too sexy for my TV, too sexy for my clothes….” yadayadayada…. Okay okay, I admit I was one of those singing along to it as well.
- End of The Road (Boyz II Men) - this song brings back good memories cos it was one of the first songs that my then-boyfriend-now-hubby and I danced to.
- My Lovin (You’re Never Gonna Get It) (En Vogue) - great DIVA song with excellent harmony. En Vogue is a really sexy girl band, with great harmonization vocals to match. I really love the part where they go “Never gonna geddit, never gonna geddit, Ne..ver gonna geddit, never gonna geddit…..”
- Give it Away (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) - another great singalong anthem song. “Give it away, give it away, give it away now…!!”
- Twilight Zone (2 Unlimited) - this song was one of my favorite dance songs at that time. Never failed to help me break a sweat and throw away calories. I don’t really fancy techno songs, but surprisingly this one was one of my favorites.
- All Nirvana songs like Lithium, Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come As You Are - they sound dreary but hey, they still sound good to this day.
- Jump (Kris Kross) - I remember this song cos I recall waiting for the video to come on every time. It’s a funky dance track and has an infectious rhythm which makes you wanna Jump Jump!!! I was reintroduced to it about 2 years back during my Body Jam class. Great workout track.
- Mariah Carey songs were awesome then (now they’re just plain weird) - songs like Make It Happen, I’ll Be There, Can’t Let Go were my favorite bathroom-singing material at that time. Yeah yeah…my lucky neighbors.
- And of course to round up the list is the all-time karaoke favorite I’ll Always Love You (Whitney Houston) - I had many requests to do this song at karaoke sessions. Hehe… me just being big-headed.
There… a glimpse of the year that once was, when I was 18. Such good fun, and it’s amazing how some of those songs are still NOT considered oldies today.
I’m gonna tag a 5 people now:
Have fun doing this guys!… and have a good weekend ahead!
