Shopping in Mystery September 19, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Rainmakers , 1 comment so farI just bought some DVDs online and will be receiving them next week. I am so excited. But anyway, those DVDs are for Ethan, not for me. Got myself a good deal too, and I am mighty pleased with the whole shopping experience. I am an avid online shopper, as well as a mall shopper, but regardless of either method, I like to walk away with my purchases feeling satisfied and being treated like a customer should. Word of mouth is the best advertisement any store can get, so it would be great if customers are being made to feel LOVED… well you know what I mean. I wonder if some of these great shopping experiences stem from these stores utilizing tools like a mystery shopping service where state-of-the-art technology is used to gather information about customer feedback, in order to tailor make a customer experience that is proven to satisfy and make the customer happy.
Now THAT’s what all stores should get!

Giving from the Heart September 19, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Rainmakers , 1 comment so farI constantly find myself at wits’ end trying to thinking of a perfect gift for someone. Whether it is a gift for a birthday or a “Get Well Soon” gift or even a gift that says “Congratulations!”, it is always very difficult for me to zero in on one item that I think that person would like. Maybe it is because I am a perfectionist at heart. Most of the time though, I like to put myself in the shoes of the recipient, because then I would get a good gauge of what the person wants and needs, and hopefully end up with a fantastic gift, a gift that is heartfelt and a gift that will leave a warm feeling in the heart of that someone. However, this method will only work if I know the person very well. And when I am caught with my back against the wall as I sometimes am, I know I could never ever go wrong with FOOD! Everyone loves food, right? So giving someone one of these gorgeous gourmet gift baskets is guaranteed to make their day! Gift baskets are the modern day hampers, and trust me, there’s something for everyone. From coffee lovers to wine connoisseurs, or even someone who adores just a bouquet of flowers, you’re bound to find something you like ![]()
I Can’t Believe… September 18, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Thoughts & Scribblings , 16comments
I can’t believe how many friends I have made through blogging. And now with Facebook, it is even better because some of these friends finally have a picture to their names.
I can’t believe how small the world is. Just last week I found out that a blogger who is one my readers is actually the husband of my good girl friend’s hubby’s sister!
I can’t believe how complicated that sounded till I typed it out.
I can’t believe my sudden craving for Twisties ended up in me buying a huge pack from Jaya Jusco after lunch today and finishing that entire pack during the 2nd half of my work day.

Girl’s Best Friend September 18, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Rainmakers , 2commentsIf diamonds are a girl’s best friend, then a diamond ring is a girl’s best friend forever. I know we girls can never get enough of jewelery, diamond ones to be exact. A friend of mine once told me that her mother-in-law gave her all sorts of pendants and rings; rubies, sapphires, emeralds. They were all colorful, yes..but she was still missing that elusive diamond. So yes, a diamond certainly completes a girl’s wardrobe.
While watching the telly some time back, I learnt that while a diamond engagement ring and a wedding band is worn on the left hand signifying true love, wearing something known as a right-hand ring symbolizes the personality of the wearer. Of course, it is also a beautiful adornment on the right hand because that is often left without accessories.
I for one, would love to have one of these antique diamond rings on my right hand. They are beautiful, vintage and antique, and they never go out of style! These rings would go SO well with my new dress… and oh, by the way, yes I am planning what to wear for the wedding dinner I am going to attend next week.
Phone Tag September 18, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Memes & Tags , 15commentsThis *supposedly* easy tag from Chen turned out to be quite an adventure in itself, not only because it took me down the technology memory lane, but because I had to hunt down pictures of my previous cellphones. Lucky thing it wasn’t those really huge “tai-kor-tai” that resembled some generator. That would REALLY give away my age…hehe… Good thing too that the ever-resourceful Rinnah helped me look for the picture of my first cell phone.
List down the following:
1. The phone(s) that you owned previously
2. The phone(s) that you’re using now
3. The phone(s) that you’re looking at to replace the current phone
My first phone - Ericsson T18

I honestly could not even remember the model of this phone, so I had to rely on knowing what it looked like to get the model. This was my one and only flip phone, and at that time, this phone was pretty sleek compared to its bulkier counterparts. I had a blue one (like the one shown in the picture) and it came with an antenna which I suspect emitted quite a fair amount of electromagnetic rays. I remember using this phone to “boil phone porridge” with my hubby (then boyfriend) when he was working in the US at that time. An hour on this phone would make my head somewhat dizzy. Well, the phone battery’s life eventually ended, so I got a new phone, which marked the start of my devotion to Nokia phones.
My 2nd phone - Nokia 8250

The thing I love about this phone is its cool blue screen. It was functional at its best, and I didn’t care that it could not support images, nor surf the net, cos I wasn’t into those kinda things. It also survived a few falls, and served me well. The reason I moved on to my next phone was also because the battery life had run out.
My 3rd phone - Nokia 6020

My first camera phone! Although the pixel resolution left much to be desired, I was happy that I had a phone which supported images. When people asked me about my baby boy, I could proudly show them his picture using my phone. This phone was light and compact, and very professional looking. In fact it still works perfectly well, and since I got myself a new blogging phone, I passed this phone to my Mom.
My current phone - Nokia N73

Blogging made me switch to my current phone. The N73 has fantastic camera and video capabilities, and served my blogging needs entirely. Oh, if you haven’t yet heard, my phone is SEXY. I love it to bits and don’t intend to change it anytime soon, so I am skipping Part 3 of the tag
Finally, I am tagging the following peeps, whom I think are *phone* people:
Michelle
Hijack Queen
Paris Beaverbanks
Fruit from Heaven September 18, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Rainmakers , 1 comment so farI don’t deny that I am vain. Heh. But when it comes to skincare, all women are, to some extent, vain. We would do anything to get rid of uneven skin blotches, the first signs of crow’s feet, and yes, the occasional pimple will get us rushing for the concealer or pimple cream, or better yet, a 2-in-1 thingy.
Being an adventurous person when it comes to skincare, I have tried various brands, some from advertorials and some from mere word of mouth, but my favorite would still be a brand that uses natural products. Now since beauty does indeed come from within, it makes perfect sense to nourish ourselves internally to produce that beautiful exterior that would (hopefully) make people oooh and aaah over. We are educated that eating lots of fruits and water makes for a resplendent complexion, now how about taking the goodness of a fruit and making it into a food supplement, something that we can just pop into our mouths after breakfast every day with nary a care in the world?
R.G. Skin Revitalizer is a revolutionary food supplement that consists of pure fruit oil (not juice) from the “Gâc” fruit, fondly referred to as the “fruit from heaven”. This is the first time I have heard of the “Gâc” (Momordia Cochinchinemis Spreng), a native fruit of Vietnam, also known as the spiny melon. Bright red and growing as large as a cantaloupe, the “Gâc” is rich in antioxidants, which is an important ingredient in all skincare products. It is also a rich source of beta carotenes, lycopene and other good stuff which benefit the skin in a wholesome manner.
I like what I hear so far. Sounds like a great solution to prevent people from calling me Aunty, eh? ![]()
Chicken Kurma Craving September 17, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Drooling & Cooking , 7comments
Sluuurrrpppppp!!!! I love chicken kurma. As a little girl, it was the one dish I looked forward to every time Mom and Dad took us to visit friends during Hari Raya. Chicken kurma tastes good with everything and is easy on the palate of a young kid. Well, my love for chicken kurma has carried on till now. It’s really a challenge to find a good serving of chicken kurma, one which has just the right amount of coconut milk, and just the right amount of spices.
My craving for chicken kurma has been fulfilled now that the fasting month of Ramadhan is here. Throughout this month, I look forward to my visit to Kayu Nasi Kandar, because I can get fantastic chicken kurma there.
Last Friday evening when my hubby and I had dinner there, they even threw in some kind of appetizer consisting of a cross-sectional slice of pineapple and two pieces of cucumber, served with chilli sauce. I didn’t really like the appetizer though, because it tasted weird, but the chicken kurma made me forget the weird appetizer. And what’s better than chicken kurma? Why, chicken kurma served with briyani rice, of course! We took a little bit of the sambal nyior too. This is a whitish paste made from grated coconut and chilli. The appearance of the sambal nyior was deceiving, because although it looked white and non-hot, it really packed a punch of ooomph! Yumminess came with a price though, and a plate of briyani rice with chicken kurma and one type of vegetable costs circa RM7.00!
So until I find time to make chicken kurma of my own, I’ll have to be contented with this one. SIGH… Too bad we only get chicken kurma at Kayu during Ramadhan…
The Whole Truth September 13, 2007
Posted by The Giddy Tiger in : Memes & Tags , 19comments…and nothing but the truth. That’s what Rinnah has asked of me. Of course, I am always a very frank and honest person to begin with, so with this one, I will be even MORE honest. No white lie here then. To complete this tag, I need to list down eight questions or statements that should never ever be asked of or said to me. (so now you know that if you do say any of these things to me, I will not be a happy camper)
*****
“People say…”
Don’t start off your sentence with “People say…” when you are talking to me. More often than not, you don’t even KNOW who these fictitious *people* are to begin with. They could be your friend’s mother’s sister’s boyfriend’s aunt for all I care. Thing is, most of the facts would have already been missing when the whole story reaches you, and that’s not at all authentic to me.
“Why?”
Look, it’s all right if you ask me “Why?” once, well…maaybe twice, but if you keep asking it in response to each and every thing I say, it’s not cute any more. Let me refer you to Google, okay? Repeated “Why?”s are only acceptable if you are a kid and you don’t know how to use the computer.
“Miss, this one got 20% off now…”
… or something to that effect. I can read the sign that says “20% off” when the font size is readable a mile away. There is no need for you to reiterate and worse, follow me around the store, narrating which ones are on discount and which ones are not. When I want your help to get me something in my size, I will let you know. Otherwise, a simple, “Hi, welcome to our store” would suffice.
“Hah?”
If you need me to repeat what I just said, please take the trouble to ask nicely. “Pardon?”, “Sorry?” or “Excuse me?” are all acceptable. “Hah?” just makes me mad and makes you look like a complete nincompoop!
“Aunty…”
It’s not because I am in denial, but if you are trying to sell me that vacuum cleaner and start your sales pitch by calling me Aunty, do you think I would even remotely consider buying it?
“Can I meet you for lunch? I want to introduce this rewarding sales plan to you!”
Can’t we just meet for food and some good catch-up on old times without bringing in any MLM business discussions?
“Your lips are too dry”, “You have big hips” or “You have a lot of open pores”
When you want to introduce a new brand of skincare or a new facial treatment to me, I am not affected by what YOU say. The more you insult the way I am right now, the more I will NOT buy what you are selling.
“Do you prefer to eat char koay teow or laksa?”
Please don’t ask me to choose either one. I know a place in Pulau Tikus where we can get both. Why choose when I can get both?!
*****
Gosh, that was a hard tag. Those who have passed the TRUTH test with flying colors are:
Ogre the Caveman
Janice this is a miracle
Trinity from Rooms of My Heart
rinnah from It’s all about the spin…
Giddy Tiger from Giddy Tigers
And those who need to take this test now are:
Ethan Boy
