Do y’all remember the Rubik’s cube? Sometime in secondary school, one of my classmates introduced me to the solution to the cube. Yup, *the* formula that will enable me to solve all six sides of cube. Of course, I eagerly learnt the formula and was quite the pro at it. But that was aeons ago, and I have since forgotten all about that. Up till recently, that is.
We succumbed to temptation and bought a Rubik’s cube from Toys ‘R’ Us. Hubbs helped to refreshed my memory on the solution of this popular puzzle and I am now pleased that I am again able solve it in no time at all. Wheee!!!!!
While most people would be contented with the traditional 3×3 Rubik’s cube, alas we were not. Well, the curious side of me sure wasn’t. The cube proved no longer challenging especially for my hubby. In an attempt to bend his brain a little more (and also to make him eat humble pie, hehehe), I bought him a 4×4 Rubik’s cube, hoping that he would be stumped for a solution. He started cracking on it December 30, admitting that it was indeed a challenging puzzle indeed. That certainly deterred him not. By referring to the internet for some pointers and guidelines, by New Year’s eve, he managed to solve it in less than half an hour! I was shocked. And he…visibly accomplished. 😛
Me? I’m not there yet… the most I can do is one single side so far. But you know, that is NOT the first step of the solution…
So what do you think? Should I get him the 5×5 cube next?
I’ve always been hopeless at it… 🙁
But, YEAH!!! Get him one! 😛
The Giddy Tigress says: Want tips? 🙂
Those were the days!! Well past it now, for me, I’m afraid.
The Giddy Tigress says: I wonder if they will have an iRubik 😛
i’m crap at it….you should get the biggest possible and see Pete sweat!!!!!!!!
The Giddy Tigress says: Can you believe how expensive these are? The 5×5 costs RM79.95 I think.
Yes, I remember this Rubik’s Cube! I still have it and I still have not been able to solve the puzzle. Alamak. paiseh. hehe….
The Giddy Tiger says: If we ever meet, please bring it along 🙂
You guys are such a whiz! I had a funny story. I had a friend in Adelaide who collects all kind of puzzles from all over the world. The whole family can solve all the puzzles. We spent lots of time in their house. We also liked to pour over his puzzles and games. Everybody seemed to get improved by the visits, when I never ever could solve even one of the easiest ones. 🙂 That’s quite an accomplishment. I consider myself …special
The Giddy Tiger says: The world is made of *special* people, Andie 🙂
I want the tips! *grin*
The Giddy Tiger says: Next time I meet you, I’ll get Pete to teach you…no no…I’ll ask Ethan to teach you!
wah ur hubby cheat LOL
The Giddy Tiger says: No la, the first few steps no way can cheat wan…have to use brains…but the last three steps or so, needs a formula 🙂
i still dunno how to solve it..
*scratch head*
The Giddy Tiger says: Maybe that’s why you’re a doc and we are not 😛
Hey I saw the 4×4 too, if u have the formula sheet…let me know.
The Giddy Tiger says: We got it online – let me locate the link first, ok? 🙂
Never had a Rubik’s cube before, but I came across an online version before. Don’t have the link but I’m sure you can google it. Your husband very ‘terror’ la, can finish in half hour!
The Giddy Tiger says: I found the online version, but really, nothing beats holding the cube in your hands la.
