Blame it on the hospital’s system. It was my second time in Pantai Hospital Penang, and I walked out definitely not a happy person. And it wasn’t even me seeing the doctor to begin with!
15-minute wait just to get registered, then wait for the doctor to come back from his ward rounds.
And then wait for 2 hours PLUS and it wasn’t even our turn yet.
All this because we wrongly THOUGHT that we had made an appointment at 10:00a.m. Apparently there is NO SUCH THING as an appointment in this hospital. It’s a first come first serve kind of thing. Much like what government hospitals are practising.
Well, after this, I think we would have fared much better had we gone to the GH.
At 12:10p.m. we cancelled the appointment, even though we were next in line. Enough of looking at the clock, pacing up and down. We could have done a million other better things with our time.
Oh, did I mention that we are NOT gonna come back for another round of waiting?
Yeap pantai has no system. The trick is to either go very early to get the first number or go a few mind before their lunch time.
if the doc is very laku then have to wait longer time. but cant make appt sounds like govt hosp only
why you need to go to hospital? anything wrong??
take care..
Hi.. sorry haven’t dropped by for some time. I had same bad experience at Subang Jaya Medical Centre. 5 days after Charu was born, they kept me waiting for 3 hours just to check that she wasn’t jaundiced. Sitting for 3 hours with a C-section wound eating away at your abdomen is a terrible experience. Sorry to hear about your bad experience, and even sorrier to know that SJMC isn’t the only private hospital with no appointment structure.
Wow..
But isn’t it the same in all hospitals? Even if you made an appointment, it’s still 1st come 1st served.
The Giddy Tigress says: Probably is in Malaysia, but not in the US, where everyone keeps to their appointment, otherwise you will get shelved to either the next available slot or at the end of the waiting queue.
I frequent Pantai a lot. The trick is like what Michelle above says. What we do is go register early in the morning, then walk in later. Two trips but definitely worth it especially when visiting the paeds.
