I look forward to weekends because of several reasons. Apart from the very obvious reason that I do not need to wake up early for work and confine myself to humdrum of the working world, weekends are wonderful because it is a time when I get to spend quality time with my family. Just hanging out together, even if it is just at home. Weekends normally seem to pass real quickly and on Sunday night, I would always wonder where the weekend had gone. I try my best to cook at home during weekends, because both my hubby and my son loves homecooked food. But we do treat ourselves to good food outside too. Being discerning diners, we only go for quality food… 😛 And one of the outings which have become a norm for us are our Saturday brunches having dim sum.
So yes, Simple American, since you’re wondering what kind of food I adore, my vote goes to dim sumbecause of its variety and yumminess of course. Dim sum, which originated from Hong Kong, caters to people of differing tastes; people who like steamed stuff can have the fish balls, siew mais and char siew paus, whereas people who dig fried or baked stuff can choose to have egg tarts, woo kok or prawn fritters, to name a few. Me? I love them all! I hail from Ipoh, which is well-renowned for its dim sum outlets. Funnily enough though, dim sum was hardly my cup of tea when I was staying and studying in Ipoh back then. Now in Penang, my love for dim sum has been reignited. And since my hubby and son love it just as much as I do (maybe more!), it suits us just fine.
Yay…it’s Friday today, the weekend is here, and dim sum, dim sum, here I come!

I love dim sum too. Even more than Mexican food. But I wanted to show off Texas cuisine. I would be happy to eat all of those items you have pictured. 🙂
The Giddy Tiger says: I’ll do barter trade SA. I’ll send you some dim sum in return for some enchiladas?
yum yum….i love dim sum too….
The Giddy Tiger says: Looks like it is a universally loved item eh?
hehe…i know you like dim sum very much as i always read that 🙂
The Giddy Tiger says: I bet you get loads of dim sum in China huh?
Yikes! Tagged! Mind if I do it on my other blog instead? 🙂 Will get back to you asap! Oh and I love dimsum too
The Giddy Tiger says: No problem. Oh, and I’ve edited your link above to point to your foodie blog. 🙂
I love dim sum too. There’s one dim sum place just one block away from the peschool, runs by an old schoolmate of mine. At one time, i ate hong kong “chee cheong fun” there every morning before i opened the preschool, for a couple of months, until I got sicked of it :-).
The Giddy Tiger says: I love HK Chee Cheong fun too. Yeah, too much of a good thing is not good at all.
I can live on dim sum all month long, which is why I need to temper myself each vacation back home, otherwise how am I gonna fit in all the rest? *sigh* So much food, so little time..
Thanks for the TAG! I’ll get it done sooner or later, but looking at my ‘appointments’ booklet, I’ll have to say later than sooner! Haha..
The Giddy Tiger says: Silly question, but do you get dim sum in Italy at all?
I think you’re the second person to tag me with this, LOL! looks like I can’t escape from it! thanks for the reminder… *wink*
and incidentally, I had dimsum this afternoon for lunch. so yumyum! I absolutely love the harkau! could almost taste it again… mmmmm… *licks lips*
The Giddy Tiger says: I need to find a place with delicious harkau. The place I go to doesn’t make harkau like it’s supposed to taste like. Looking forward to your post on this tag, May!
I love dim sum too but those found in OZland! Those in Penang, taste wise so-so only. But found a place which is quite nice for a Sunday breaky session… Red Tea House near to New Lane… can’t remember the road name MaCalister? The main branch is at Sunshine Far Lim.
The Giddy Tiger says: I’ve not been there before. We always go to Maxim’s in Taman Pekaka – everything there is good except the harkau.
Unfortunately, not where I live! So I will only fall into deep temptation for the months I am home once a year! Can you imagine? *sigh*
The Giddy Tiger says: Well, remember to stuff yourself silly when you do come back then!
Yummy dim sum! Now you’ve made me feel like I want to have some over the weekend.
I know what I wanna post for this tag… Hehehehe… BRB with your tag this weekend.
The Giddy Tiger says: Looking forward to it and drooling for good measure…
Oh tagged?! i have blogged about my favourite place before, also a dim sum place. Haha. But for you, will do it again. Stay tune! 🙂
Thanks for tagging me! 🙂
The Giddy Tiger says: Great! I love food and I’m sure I would love reading about your favorite food 🙂
Dim Sum’s my all-time favourite too. I wrote about dim sum too in my ‘food around the world tag’ recently. What a coincidence, ha ha…
The Giddy Tiger says: Looks like dim sum is a universally loved food eh?

The Giddy Tiger says: Just saw it and wiping drool off my chin…
