Got Me Feeling Emotions

Do you think women are more emotionally sensitive compared to men? Do women tend to get irked more easily? Is the “getting hurt” threshold lower in women compared to men?

Recently I was personally thrown into a situation where I “felt” I was being taken for granted. I voiced my displeasure to my hubby who advised me to use outright confrontation to sort of get it off my chest, as opposed to the subtler method I had employed. In the end, the entire brouhaha turned out to be just me making a mountain out of a molehill as there was really nothing to be distressed about, hence the use of the inverted quotes in the word “felt”.

When I was in primary school, I was involved in a few spates of “don’t friend you” business. It wasn’t that I was difficult to deal with, and it wasn’t because I was a recluse, because now that I recall it, there were other people involved in it too! I can’t even remember why I “don’t friend” these particular people now, because in the end we worked it out, and some of them are now actually my close friends. Call it childhood squabbles or what you may, but when I shared these incidents with my hubby, he tells me that he has never been in any of these situations before when he was young. All he remembers were playing with his friends using the “lastik” and having fun.

Which left me thinking, are women more prone to emotional battles? Could it be that women treat friendship differently than men? Do women treat friends as confidantes, someone they can trust with their whole heart, so much so that the very slightest hint of betrayal, however minuscule, would throw them into a state of frenzy, threatening the end of a beautiful friendship? That is, until a well-thought apology (usually done with aplomb) is given? Are we women just drama queens or do we really have a point here?

Yay beat Rinnah! Hehe…I agree with you that we tend to be quite emotional. Sometimes men just don’t see what the fuss is all about. I guess both sides to have their point but while men just choose to cast it aside, we women brood on it.

After all, like Susan in Desperate Housewives, I think deep inside, we’re all drama queens! 🙂

The Giddy Tiger says: Or we see ourselves as drama queens? But a lil bit of emotion is definitely better than a heart of stone, no?

  2. I am just another Drama Queen as I can’t drag a problem that already existed. And, I’ll never choose to walk away if there is a serious issue to discuss. No matter for friends or love ones.

I will feel like bursting if someone just walk away with the problem unsolved…… 🙂

The Giddy Tiger says: Same here. I can’t keep things bottled up inside. However, I am curious if the same problem will make a man feel as strongly as a woman does.

*sings* I get so emotional baby… everytime I think of you… *stops singing*

I agree totally that us women are emotional beings, more so than men. I do brood over things a lot, which contributes to the mood swings, I guess! But on the contrary to you, I normally keep it bottled up inside because I’m not the confrontational type. Guess that’s bad, huh?

The Giddy Tiger says: Been a long time since I heard that Whitney song and you sing it so well … Tee-hee! Well, now you can *confront* all you want in your blogs, so that’s good what.

  6. LB says:

Yeah, let’s all go out play lastik!! LOL..
Nah, I believe it depends on the person’s sensitivity. Just that more girls are more sensitive to their surroundings than guys.

The Giddy Tiger says: But on the other end of the spectrum, there ARE guys who are sensitive too, right?

  7. chinnee says:

for my case, hubby is more sensitive than me…..such a baby…sigh….

The Giddy Tiger says: Really? But I guess that’s what attracted him to you in the first place, yes?

  8. may says:

  10. Angeleyes says:
