Hear ye, Hear ye…No more Yahoo Photos soon

I just got news that Yahoo Photos will be shut down soon. This means people who have religiously stored their personal pictures, honeymoon shots and baby memories in Yahoo Photos will find them all GONE. This is what the press release has published, and I quote:

Yahoo is not forcing transition to Flickr – instead, users are being given the option of choosing among a number of top photo sharing sites. If you are a current Yahoo! Photos user, you will be given the option to export all your photos into Flickr (a one-click process) or you will be able to export to a few other services such as Photobucket, Snapfish, Kodak Gallery or Shutterfly. Most of these services have built special tools to transition users, Butterfield said. Users will also be able to download full sized original photos, or order CDs and prints at a discount to the normal price. “We have no interest in forcing anyone to switch to Flickr” Butterfield said. “We want happy users.”

I think users will be given a period of 3 months to move all their photos out. Have you moved your photos out of Yahoo yet? Better do so soon…

I wish I may, I wish I might…

I wish I could have a deliciously thick strawberry milkshake, right here, right now.  I am so craving it.

I wish I could have the passion for my work which is akin to how my son enthusiastically plays with his toys.  The fervour and excitement he displays when he sees his toys and the way his eyes light up is really something.  I wish I could (maybe) have half of what he has when I approach my work.

I wish I had more time to do so many many other things.  There are so many blogs I have yet to visit, so many errands I need to run and so many hobbies I want to take up, if only I had more time.

I wish I could be more patient and tolerant.  Often I find myself losing my temper and getting irritated.  I wish I could have a longer fuse.  My fuse has significantly grown longer since I embraced motherhood and parenthood, but I still pray to have more patience cultivated in me.

I wish Singapore Airlines would fix the online miles redemption capability for the Penang -Singapore connection.  It has not been available for a week now and I really want to redeem my miles for my vacation.  I have not received a reply from them yet as to when they are expected to fix it.

I wish PayPal would fix the glitch in their system to allow Malaysians to accept our funds.  Currently, our funds in PayPal are all stuck pending the *site maintenance* PayPal is supposed to complete.  I really hope they do so within this week itself.

I wish I had more shoes.  I could never get enough shoes.  And along the same vein, I wish I had more space to keep the *more shoes* I am wishing for.

I wish the weekdays would pass at a quicker speed.  I am so looking forward to the weekend.  I wish we could have a 5-day weekend and a 2-day workweek instead.  That would be totally awesome.

And finally, I wish I had better stuff to blog about than to spew nonsense on what I am wishing for.

What does Mother’s Day mean to me?

Mother’s Day: a day when the price of flowers sky-rockets way high and lavish dinners are served all around the world.  We see people everywhere finding ways and means to tell their moms just how much she means to them.  In fact, when we were out shopping at Queensbay Mall yesterday, we noticed two guys carrying pink Sasa bags.  Well well…looks like their moms are getting some new lipsticks and/or eyeshadow this year!

So what exactly does Mother’s Day mean?  And for that matter, what exactly does it mean to me?  This is my second time celebrating Mother’s Day and I’m sure I don’t have that much experience in that arena to begin with.  That being said, Mother’s Day carries different meanings and connotations for mothers worldwide.

For me, the meaning of Mother’s Day is beautifully captured in the toothy smile my adorable son gave me on Sunday morning, just as soon as he woke up.  A smile that says “Good Morning Mommy… I’m so happy to see you!”

Mother’s Day is embodied in the hug and kiss I get from my hubby, that says “Thank you for being a wonderful wife and mother.  I love you.”

Mother’s Day is celebrating the love of God in church as a family, worshipping him in unison and being thankful for all mothers worldwide.

Mother’s Day is portrayed in the loving fellowship filled with joy and laughter we shared as a family when we had lunch and dinner together.  It is the spaghetti-flavored handprints I got on my attire as I washed my son up after his meal.  And it is the tiny crumbs of roti bakar my son fed me during dinner.

Mother’s Day means calling my Mom up just to say “I love you” and to wish her a blessed Mother’s Day.  And the happiness she feels when her grandson *wishes* her the same too, because after all Mother’s Day is for mothers and grandmothers everywhere.

Mother’s Day means catching a whiff of the glorious scent of my baby boy as he gets comfy just snuggling up to sleep with me at the end of the day.  The warmth and closeness is just heavenly.  And the feeling is simply priceless.

And finally Mother’s Day means spending extra quality time with my hubby, just watching the last matches of the English Premier League season together.  The excitement it exuberates just caps off an entirely beautifully spent Mother’s Day.

And that’s what Mother’s Day means to me.
