What is your Driver’s Licence worth?

licence

Last weekend I was hanging out in 1-Utama for a bit, and since we didn’t bring our stroller along, we thought we’d rent a stroller from the mall.  After waiting for about 15 minutes in line, it was my turn, and the person-in-charge asked for my driver’s licence.  I handed it over to him, thinking that he would just jot down the number for reference.  But when I’d completed the form for the rental and passed it to him, he used a paper clip to attach my driver’s licence to the form!

Immediately I asked him if he was going to be keeping my licence.  The man said, “Yes.  Everybody also does the same thing.”  And he took out a whole stack of forms with driver licences attached.

I told him, “No, I’m sorry.  I’m not going to let you hold on to my driver’s licence.”

So finally, in place of handing over my driving identity aka licence, I paid a refundable deposit of RM50.

But it got me to thinking…why are there so many people out there who would not bat an eyelid and give out their driver’s licences to rent strollers?  Don’t they value their driver’s licences?  Yes, it’s not your MyKad, but still it’s an important document to have with you at all times.

I think my driver’s licence is worth far more than RM50 though, but apparently there are people out there who would rather keep their RM50 and risk losing their driver’s licences.

Speaking of which, there was a time when the security guard at an apartment we were visiting asked for my hubby’s licence too.  We asked the guard why, and he couldn’t answer.

My brand new silver and white baby

I’m sitting at my dining table now, typing out this post…yeah, you read right…my DINING TABLE.

Nope, I did not move my home PC out, which would be absolutely absurd.  Instead, I am blogging from my brand new Sony Vaio! 🙂

Excuse me while I wipe that grin from my face 🙂

vaio1

This is actually a long-delayed Christmas present from my hubby, and I tell you, I totally ADORE it!  We were actually deciding between the Vaio or the Dell Studio.  I wanted something sleek in white, and I was eyeing the Dell Studio laptop with the OPI color on its casing, but then just recently Sony released the new E series Vaio laptops, and I was totally smitten!

Check out that classic, chic white, clean look, with the *chiclets* keyboard, which was another reason why we chose this baby.  The rest of the colors in the E series do not come with the white keyboard save for the white colored models.

Actually come to think of it, it’s not really even white.  The cover is more of a silvery sheen, which suits me perfectly fine.

…and did I mention it comes with a FREE original Sony Vaio backpack (Targus) and a whole lot of other goodies and freebies (like a mouse, Kensington lock, keyboard protector, etc).

Performance-wise, it is definitely MUCH faster than our home PC, and the i5 processor ROCKS!  Windows 7 interface is cool too, and feels a lot like a Mac, but we’ve experienced some itsy-bitsy bugs here and there.  They are all small enough to be ignored of course…and I’m loving the speed of this laptop immensely!

The look of my new baby is so totally me, and I am looking forward to our long-term relationship together.  Ethan has named my Vaio the new *girl’s computer* and it looks like he is *booking* the home pc for himself! LOL

Can’t get enough of the *chiclets* keyboard…

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the gorgeous, fabulous Christmas present, my love! 🙂

Salad Lunches Rock!

saladlunch

I have a newfound love for salads.  Not that I ever despised it before, but anyhow…I recently discovered that I can have a perfectly fresh, nutritious, balanced, organic, non-oily lunch and it’s absolutely healthy!

Best of all, I can be sure everything’s good because I make it and put whatever I want in it.

I foresee many many more of these lunches in the near future 🙂

By the way, lovin’ the French Dressing every single bit 🙂

Something in the Fear Factor league?

eggs

Contrary to what you might think, these are NOT cherry tomatoes.  I served these for dinner last week and nobody knew what they were.

When I bought my free range chicken earlier that morning, the poultry lady asked me if I wanted the *unhatched* eggs they had found in the chicken.  Apparently that particular free range chicken was just about ready to lay eggs, and these orangey things were the eggs.  The poultry lady told me to just steam them and eat, which I did.

They actually taste quite good, smoother than egg yolks.  And they go really well with steamed rice.

Question is: would YOU eat them?

My Best Mother’s Day ever!

momsday2010

To date, this year’s Mother’s Day is definitely my best ever.

My prayers were answered, and a situation totally did a 180 degrees turn and presented itself in a whole new light which left me happy beyond comprehension.

To top it off, my little boy surprised me with a Mother’s Day card and a present which he picked out together with his Daddy.  Dunno if the E stands for the brand of the bag or Ethan. 🙂

Nevertheless, I loved every minute of that day, which marked the 4th time I celebrated that wonderful day. 🙂
