Brown box of chicken rice

I was pleasantly surprised when the chicken rice I tarpowed was presented in the following packaging just the other day:

Bravo to the Fatty Loh Chicken Rice store in Nagore Road, Penang for choosing paper instead of plastic! 🙂

Would have been even better if the spoon provided was non-plastic! 🙂

Waiting waiting waiting…

Blame it on the hospital’s system.  It was my second time in Pantai Hospital Penang, and I walked out definitely not a happy person.  And it wasn’t even me seeing the doctor to begin with!

15-minute wait just to get registered, then wait for the doctor to come back from his ward rounds.

And then wait for 2 hours PLUS and it wasn’t even our turn yet.

All this because we wrongly THOUGHT that we had made an appointment at 10:00a.m.  Apparently there is NO SUCH THING as an appointment in this hospital.  It’s a first come first serve kind of thing.  Much like what government hospitals are practising.

Well, after this, I think we would have fared much better had we gone to the GH.

At 12:10p.m. we cancelled the appointment, even though we were next in line.  Enough of looking at the clock, pacing up and down.  We could have done a million other better things with our time.

Oh, did I mention that we are NOT gonna come back for another round of waiting?

Weighing my ups & downs

How to lose 5 kilos in 1 month:

  • Be the designated chauffeur for both your kids.  Ferry the little one to the baby sitter in the morning, and then ferry the elder one to school.  Then fetch the elder one from school, get some stuff done at home and then fetch the little one back.
  • Deal with a clingy toddler, sometimes wanting to be carried even though he can walk and run on his own.
  • Strength training in the form of carrying about 22 kilos…sometimes both kids need to be carried at the same time!
  • Breastfeed exclusively.  This one is excellent for that cardio workout 🙂
  • Express milk as fast as possible, while aiming to meet the target consumption of the little one, sometimes having to fend off outbursts of “No ‘spressing milk Mommy!” from the elder one.
  • Adding an additional milk expression session because the little one’s intake has increased.
  • Go marketing at the mini wet market, because the meat and vegetables there is so much fresher than at the supermarket…sometimes having to wear the little one in a sling while doing so!
  • Try to cook a healthy homecooked meal every day.
  • Do laundry every day, climbing up a small step ladder over and over again to hang up the clothes, and then climbing up and down repeatedly to keep the dry clothes later.
  • Cloth diaper your kids.  That way, you get to do laundry a few times each day too.
  • Wolf down a speedy lunch as fast as you can without choking or getting indigestion.
  • Drink lots of water (good for milk production too).
  • Get only 5-6 hours of sleep at night.
  • Try to squeeze in vacuuming and mopping the floor as often as possible.

… and how to gain 1 kilo back in 3 days:

  • Make a 4D3N trip to KL
  • Day 1: Buffet breakfast at hotel, buffet lunch at Saisaki (35% off lunch and 30% off dinner, mind you!), dinner at Italiannies
  • Day 2: Buffet breakfast at hotel, lunch at an obscure Chinese restaurant in Sentul with fantastic delicious food, buffet dinner at Marché Buka Puasa extravaganza.
  • Day 3: Buffet breakfast at hotel, also considered brunch because of oversleeping.
  • Eat cupcakes from Cupcake Chic almost every day.

…oh by the way, I am back to the *5 kilos in 1 month* routine now!

I’m not a very good blogger

I’m not a very good blogger because even though my family and I have been back in Malaysia for close to a month, I have not even published a single blog post about our return.

We got our broadband connection set up about a week ago, but I didn’t even blog about that.  And now I cannot blame my lack of blogging on the absence of internet.

I did not blog about how happy I was when I discovered my frozen EBM was just 80% thawed when we arrived at our hotel, and how I rushed to ask the hotel reception to quickly put it in the cold freezer.  I also did not blog about how the next day, when I went to collect the EBM, to my horror, they had put it in the CHILLER instead of the FREEZER and everything had completely thawed!

I did not blog about how we wolfed down all the yummy Malaysian food we had missed.  I did not blog about it because I didn’t even manage to snap pictures!

I did not blog about how my hubby and I, with 2 kids in tow, cleaned our apartment bit by bit, in order to make it livable.  Thank goodness we had the hotel to stay in for a while.

I did not blog about all the boxes of our shipment that arrived about 10 days after our arrival.  The many boxes certainly made our apartment that much smaller, and we aren’t even done unpacking.

I did not blog about how atrocious the traffic is.  I suffered withdrawal symptoms and had to force myself to drive when the need arose.  Needless to say, many a time I found myself flicking the wiper controls instead of the controls for the indicators.

I also did not blog about the EXTREMELY HOT weather.  Our electricity bill will definitely skyrocket this month (after several months of not having to pay).  I find myself having to turn the air-conditioning on most of the time.

My domain disk space breached the very critical 100% mark last weekend but I did not blog about it.  I found out it was due to some WordPress core dump files which had to be manually deleted.

I’m done with this post now, even though I still do not think of myself as a good blogger, but hey, at least I made the effort to tell y’all that I’m still here! 🙂
