Sluuurrrpppppp!!!! I love chicken kurma. As a little girl, it was the one dish I looked forward to every time Mom and Dad took us to visit friends during Hari Raya. Chicken kurma tastes good with everything and is easy on the palate of a young kid. Well, my love for chicken kurma has carried on till now. It’s really a challenge to find a good serving of chicken kurma, one which has just the right amount of coconut milk, and just the right amount of spices.
My craving for chicken kurma has been fulfilled now that the fasting month of Ramadhan is here. Throughout this month, I look forward to my visit to Kayu Nasi Kandar, because I can get fantastic chicken kurma there.
Last Friday evening when my hubby and I had dinner there, they even threw in some kind of appetizer consisting of a cross-sectional slice of pineapple and two pieces of cucumber, served with chilli sauce. I didn’t really like the appetizer though, because it tasted weird, but the chicken kurma made me forget the weird appetizer. And what’s better than chicken kurma? Why, chicken kurma served with briyani rice, of course! We took a little bit of the sambal nyior too. This is a whitish paste made from grated coconut and chilli. The appearance of the sambal nyior was deceiving, because although it looked white and non-hot, it really packed a punch of ooomph! Yumminess came with a price though, and a plate of briyani rice with chicken kurma and one type of vegetable costs circa RM7.00!
So until I find time to make chicken kurma of my own, I’ll have to be contented with this one. SIGH… Too bad we only get chicken kurma at Kayu during Ramadhan…
I will do an advertorial for my mum and say that she cooks a nice chicken kurma… hehehe. LOL!
The Giddy Tiger says: I’ll take nice… When can I come and eat? 😀
I haven’t taken advantage of the Ramadhan month to check out the bazaars yet… I think I should do it one of these days!
The Giddy Tiger says: I bet you’ll find loads of things to blog about!

The Giddy Tiger says: Good for you…I’m having another helping tomorrow!
why that colour one? i thought it should be like orangey-red?
i love the one with cashew nuts!! YUMMMM!
The Giddy Tiger says: Eh, chicken kurma has always looked this way to me woh..
*Slurp* That looks good! But I’ve boycotted Kayu ages ago when they started charging indiscriminately here! A plate of nasi with a chicken and a piece of fish costs RM12 a year ago…now probably RM15!
The Giddy Tiger says: Haha…you gotta know what to order…
That looks divine. I have to stay in Malaysia for a year so I don’t miss any food. haha
Will have the nice awarded posted in a bit too. 🙂 Thanks once again.
The Giddy Tiger says: I’ll help you plan your eating itinerary. 🙂
that made me drool kaw-kaw! there’s chicken kurma available here too, but I don’t think it’s quite the same as the one back home. urghhh… I can feel my tummy rumbling now!
The Giddy Tiger says: Now now…stop licking your computer screen!
