The inevitable goodbye?

So all credit card holders will be charged a service tax of RM50 per card and RM25 per supplementary card, effective next year.

Definitely sad, sad news for someone like me, who is a very good paymaster.  I only use the credit card as a means of convenience instead of lugging cash around.  I always always pay my monthly bill in full and never make use of the transfer-here-transfer-there promotions.  I have also never paid any interest to the bank for my credit card balances.

But how do I get rewarded?

Because of people who hold tens of credit cards and owe monies left and right, people like me now have to pay service tax too.  Life simply isn’t fair.  If only the service tax would be waived for people like me, based on our credit card historical records.

But until then, we might need to rethink which credit cards to cut and which to keep.

Same same! I agree with you – tax those with more than 2 credit cards but let us good paymasters continue with what is a necessity not a luxury! Idjits 😛

Well, seems like banks are going to absorb the fee.

The Giddy Tigress says: If that’s the case, that’s great! All banks?

You bring up a good point. Those of us who are responsible credit card users have to pay for the actions of the irresponsible few.

The Giddy Tigress says: Yeah, such a shame, ain’t it?

Probably is just an excuse from the govt to tax us who are the group of pitiful tax payers

The Giddy Tigress says: More tax huh?

Same here! The root cause of this is those people hired to chase down and harrass passers-by in the malls; “freeforlife!!free toy, free phone, free dress, free food, free thisthatneverything”… until you repeat a hundred times no thanks, or pretend they are invisible (which is hard). They approach anyone, so imagine all the types who would sign up to that. THOSE fellas are hired by the banks, so its only fair that the banks absorb the overhead…

I like what your friend said about the credit card sales executives LOL

I think the service tax should only be charged on the 3rd card onwards since almost everyone would have at least a Visa and a Mastercard.
