Off we went to the g Hotel for the food tasting extravaganza. We parked at the adjacent Gurney Plaza carpark because we had heard that the parking fee in the g Hotel was exorbitantly high! The hotel was created in the same vein as Royale Bintang in The Curve. One of the hotel exits leads to an alfresco dining area and outdoor walkway which leads directly to the Gurney Plaza shopping mall. I could not take any pictures because we were really hungry then and was only thinking of food…. and after the meal, well….I was just too plain lazy…. anyway, I’ll try to take some at another time… maybe next weekend…..you know why? Right outside the g Hotel, we have the newly opened Chili’s, the first ever in Penang. I heard that apart from the bottomless drinks, they also have bottomless nachos with unlimited salsa too. Don’t know if that’s true…
Anyway, the ambience exuded by the lobby and registration area of the g Hotel was one of class, sophistication and abstractness. It had modern art decor and equally modern furniture. The lobby area was vast too and there was a lot of breathing space. Good for people who suffer from claustrophobia. Unfortunately, the posh interior was marred by the fact that there was someone smoking away in the lobby, oblivious to his surroundings. I’m sorry, but are people allowed to smoke in hotel lobbies? I wanted to look for the No Smoking sign and tell him off, but we were in a rush to get to the food, so I let it go. Lucky him!
Back to the food-tasting. The cutlery was really nice. I especially like the plates they used: in clean classic white, and it was shaped in a square curvy shape, very different from the usual round plates. The food connoisseur in me gave a nod of approval at first glance. Here’s the list of food that we have the opportunity to savor:
And my favorite from the list above are:
Can you guess what each of those are? Of course, this is just my opinion, and the rest would probably have their own say too. Oh yeah, by the way, I have posted a picture of me in the *sneak preview* attire from my previous post… it’s somewhere out there, but you’ll need to look for it…. 😛 please excuse my shameless way of generating web traffic. MUAHAHAHAHAhahahahahah!!!!!
Yes yes Chillies does have bottomless tostados chips with salsa and bottomless drinks – juices and soft drinks. They also serve a nice vodka lime and is one of the cheapest around during happy hour (in my view). I get tired of Chillis though coz tex mex isn’t my fave. But its a nice place to hang out because of the bottomless stuff LOL. I’ve seen a whole table of guys order 1 bottomless chips and 6 bottomless soft drinks. Chillis rugi that night! haha… btw the food looks good and i’m off to hunt down your pic! 😀
The Giddy Tiger says: When I was in Chili’s 1-U, the food was nothing to shout about. Maybe I ordered the wrong stuff? I’ll check with you what’s good before I go ok?
Found! Hubba hubba hot mama! 😀 bit of a no brainer really hehe…
The Giddy Tiger says: Didn’t want people to find it too hard and give up now, did I?
Haha, I hung out at Chili’s at PJ Hilton for a while. I was staying there for over a week or so once.. I’m off to hunt too!
ps: Yummy crockery!
The Giddy Tiger says: I didn’t know PJ Hilton had a Chili’s outlet!
Fried Chicken, Almond Jelly Dessert, Lotus Leave Rice and Prawn. So do I get a treat there?
The Giddy Tiger says: Aiya, never say earlier. Yesterday there was some rice left over, but I tarpow and finished it off already.
GT: Chili’s 1U is nothing to shout about. In fact, they have the worst service in town! *thumbs down* Better head to Chili’s Bangsar Shopping Centre if you’re in KL. Everything’s better there – food, drinks and especially service!
LB: Eh, the one in Hilton is Uncle Chili’s leh… not related. *grin*
The Giddy Tiger says: Thanks Rinnah! Will keep that in mind…
LOL, Rinnah! I didn’t stop to think they were unrelated! Thanks for the heads up!
The Giddy Tiger says: Yup, trust a KL gal to tell you the difference huh?
Come to think of it, there weren’t any bottomless anything there! No wonder..
The Giddy Tiger says: Everything got bottom wan… 😛
