My son drew and colored a rainbow the other day. I was very surprised he knew the order of the colors, but I then asked him why there were only 6 colors.
He said, “Mommy, I remembered the song Barney sang. That’s how I know all the colors of the rainbow.”
And this is the song:
As you would have noticed, Barney sings of only 6 colors. Indigo and Violet are conveniently combined to become Purple. I can easily see the reason why Purple is in the equation, the catchy song being from a big purple dinosaur and all, but can you imagine kids all over the world thinking that there are only 6 colors in the rainbow?
Still…I can’t seem to get the music of that song out of my head. Maybe I ought to modify that last bit so it says Indigo and Violet, eh?
I guess no one uses Richard Of York Gained Battle In Vain anymore huh?
or the other variant I learnt because of having to memorise the colours in Malay – Michael Jackson Kissed Hanna Barbera In Uganda. LOL…
The Giddy Tigress says: Ahh…you know, I have not heard of that before. But what I remembered suddenly came to me (the one in Malay): Masuk Jamban Kerana Hendak Buang Isi Usus! Haha…
The one I learned was Michael Jackson Kicked His Bucket in USA
The Giddy Tigress says: And that’s also a fact!
