I played PaintBall for the first time in my life two days ago… *applause applause* :D. My department organized the sport as a team building event. It was held at the War Museum in Batu Maung. We played 3 games in total with 2 lives given each (we asked for 9 but the marshall said that was only for cats… eh, was that a joke?)
Since it was my first time playing the game, I didn’t really know what to expect, but I must say that I was really impressed with the professional way the game was handled. I was also greatly intrigued by our battle field, which was the exact ground on which the British and the Japanese indulged in guerilla warfare on during World War II. It was a jungle terrain and was slopy, with some bunkers and trees scattered throughout the whole area. I felt that made for a more realistic “war” experience… and I was right.
After the initial explanation and yadayadayada on the rules, we were provided with our gear. We were garbed in a protection jacket, a face mask and a marker (or gun). Nah…this is me, all ready for action. Do I look like a ninja? π
The objective of the 3 games was to touch the bunker of the opposing team, which was where the opposing team’s flag was. As exciting as the game was, it was pretty scary at times … I can’t imagine what real soldiers actually went through during the war.
So how did I fare? I got hit for the first time right smack on my head. I felt a sharp pain as the pain pellet hit the left of my head and then it was over. I also had some of the paint splattered on my face mask and that totally marred my vision π Actually ah, this was the first time in goodness knows how long that I had actually exercised. I finished the game tired, happy and took away some bumps, bruises and scrapes.
All in all, paintball was a truly enjoyable sport. Not for the faint-hearted but if you ever get the opportunity to play, seize it! I know I’m glad I did π The paintball management at the War Musuem really handled the sport well. I heard from my hubby that the last time he went for paintball in Perlis, the equipment all smelled like sweat and body odour and goodness knows how long ago they had been washed. I braced myself for the worst here at the war musuem, however, my fears were unfounded as the face masks and all were maintained properly in between games and sprayed with Lysol. π
The team building ended with a dinner at Tao Japanese restaurant, but I did not go, as it was already pretty late when we’d finished paintballing, and I was already missing Pete and Ethan. But if you wanna know what happened, you can check out Michelle’s blog here.
You look like a terminator. By the way, I tag Ethan.
The Giddy Tiger says: Terminator? Wow…. Errr…. I’ll be back…with the response to Ethan’s tag π
I have only played with real bullets. But it has been a long time. Just Army training. Never was sent into combat.
Don’t know why I never played paintball. Just have not.
The Giddy Tiger says: Hey, you should try it. I bet you’d kick ass, what with the Army training and all.

Wow, great experience. I think I will be the first one get shot if I join the game.
I played this in 1999 which I organised for my company D&D in Batam Island (near Singapore). Was really fun but some of my colleagues got blue black all over their body which stayed for weeks!
The Giddy Tiger says: I know! Tell me about it….:P I was forewarned by my hubby, so I was covered almost from head to toe. It’s gonna really hurt if you get hit directly on the bare skin.
From the photos you all look like you had a ball. What a great sport paintball is.
The Giddy Tiger says: I absolutely agree π
