Is this an excuse to SPLURGE?

The recent revelation of Budget 2008 states that we are now able to claim RM300 under our individual tax relief for sports and exercise equipment, all in the name of promoting a healthy lifestyle. This is good news, right? 🙂

So now I wonder if this RM300 covers:

  • Gym membership fees – I know RM300 is not enough for a whole year, but it could help a tad.
  • Branded sportswear – When I exercise I like to look good. When I look good, it gives me motivation to exercise. I can’t look good in baggy t-shirts and frumpy shorts. So I hope the allocation is for sportswear too.
  • Shoes – likewise, if the RM300 covers shoes, I am going out to get myself a new pair pronto! Oh, I know I already have a couple of shoes, but one more could never hurt, right? Might as well throw in some socks too, for good measure.
  • Treadmills, stairmasters and the like. Although I think RM300 annually will barely get me a few dumbbells and a yoga mat only.

Nevertheless, I welcome this RM300 tax relief with open arms. I’m hoping this amount will be revised (and increased) in years to come, just like the book relief.

Any couch potatoes out there willing to *grant* me their RM300 for next year? … worth a shot, anyway. 🙂

Pink Ribbons!

Pink is always the color of innocence, of sweetness and niceness. And so, it was such a pleasant surprise to receive the above award this morning from Charlotte’s Mommy. Look at all the pinkness and ribbons and flowers this award came with. It’s hard not to smile just looking at it, right?

“This award will be awarded to those that are just nice people , good blog friends and those that inspire good feelings and inspiration! Those that care about others that are there to lend support or those that are just a positive influence in our blogging world!”

Roses are red, violets are blue,
This award comes from me to you:

Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy

It goes without saying that I love music. Everything and anything to do with music works for me. I love singing, I love operas, musicals, playing the piano, and yes, I have loved dancing for as long as I have known. In school, I participated in dance items for the annual school concerts. I remember playing the part of a flamenco dancer, wearing a chili-red frilly skirt and a white lacy blouse, holding a pretty fan for effect (yes, I still have that picture!). I was also caught up in that whole Debbie Gibson era, and I can see myself now dancing to the rhythm of Electric Youth. I even choreographed the entire dance sequence, together with a good girl friend of mine!

Aahhh…those were fantastic memories that would be etched in my mind forever.

The one genre of dance I did not explore fully was ballet. When I was a little girl, I did take up ballet classes, but somewhere along the line, the interest fazed out, unfortunately. A few years later when I was older, my classmate (who did take up ballet) related stories to me about bleeding toes and torn ballet shoes, all a result of ballet practice. How I wish now that that had not deterred me to pursue ballet to another level. A ballet performance is such a riveting one to witness. There’s something fascinating about watching lithe and graceful ballet dancers moving to the music of Swan Lake, twirling effortlessly in a pirouette in unison in all their pink tutus and beautifully extending their arms in an arabesque, with hair perfectly coiffed up in a bun.

If only I had taken ballet a few levels further, I could be one of those ballerinas. Well, maybe I can still play pretend and buy a tutu and a pair of shoes? Maybe.

The Genie came for a visit…

I am working on a very difficult tag right now, so difficult it has caused me to get blogger’s block, which is something I hardly ever get. But while I am squeezing my brain to churn that tag out, the Genie King and Genie Princess magically appeared and granted me a wish. No, I didn’t get to rub a magic lamp a la Aladdin, but a very kind soul in the form of Paris delivered this wish to me. I so need this right now, so I am gonna try and see if this works… plus, Paris thinks I am a sport, so it’d be rude of me NOT to do this… *wink*

Water Therapy

My back aches. I felt the pain last night as I was drifting off to sleep, but I tried to dream the pain away. I don’t think it is caused by age… hehe… I am still very young, if I might say so myself.  Maybe it’s because I did too much housework (yeah, right)…but hubby says it is because Ethan is getting heavier.  Well, it could very well be the stress and tension from work too.

Whatever the reason, I could really do with some therapeutic massage. Come to think of it, it has been close to a year that I have stepped into a spa. Oh, what I would give for a long, relaxing aromatherapy massage followed by a relaxing laze around in a jacuzzi or hot tub. In fact, I would also welcome the idea of swimming in one of these Hydropool swim spas.  Imagine the good that would do for me!  In what is known as hydrotherapy, water is touted to relax muscles and help us unwind, and with these swim spas, I can kill two birds with one stone: exercise and relax AT the same time!
