A penny for your thoughts

I have made many many friends just by being a breastfeeding moomie. As my recent reflection on these friendships say, I cherish each and every one of these special people, and we have formed a bond which is inseparable. One of them is Shooi, a great comrade of mine who has sorta given me a push in the *right* direction when it comes to blogging (okay, okay…I might have succumbed to peer pressure somehow).

Now most people may think that I know Shooi, author of Just My Thoughts (http://www.justmytots.com), through breastfeeding. As you can see, we are both breastfeeding moomies and we meet at the nursing mothers’ room our company provides for nursing mothers. However, not many people know that Shooi and I have *accidentally* met before while we were still pregnant. She was one of my customers who called me up to have some changes made to the web site she owns, and I must say we kinda hit it off immediately.

When she first started blogging, it was to capture stories about her son, but by and by, the blogging mania hit her and she is now blogging her shoes off in Just My Thoughts. Her blog comprises all the thoughts that run through a working mother’s mind. It contains ideas and stories are concise and yet captivating. From true live experiences to contemporary gossip, they are both funny and enlightening – a welcoming breather to any dreary working day. Sometimes there are even tips for breastfeeding moomies!

I enjoy reading her blog not only because it keeps me updated on what’s going on in her life, it also helps me get through a dreary day! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m running off to check out what she’s thinking of today!

Fu-yoh! It’s Fummo!

I was referred by a friend and just signed up with Fummo today, an advertising company where members earn money doing simple offers, viewing advertisements and referring friends!  The company is currently in pre-launch mode till May 20th 2007 and is trying to achieve its goal of 400,000 registered members till then.

Fummo is offering us a chance to earn money online with referrals.  One referral will earn you $5 (hey, easier than writing a sponsored post, no?).  And on top of that, you will earn 10% of what your referral earns.  This means that when you click on the banner above to register as a member (i.e. referred by me), I will earn $5.  Thereafter, you are free to refer anyone else you please, earning $5 per referral.  Is that a sweet deal or what?

Farewell My Trusted Friend

Yesterday I bade a fond farewell to a good friend, a trusted one at that… We’ve known each other for a little over a year, but we’ve grown so close to each other. I said goodbye to my cooler bag. My beloved cooler bag, which I used to transport the EBM I expressed at work back home for the past one year or so, and has served me well has done its duty. I noticed it was torn for several weeks already, but I only had the heart to throw it away yesterday.

Well, this does not mean I am putting the brakes on breastfeeding. I have another cooler bag from Avent which I will be using from now on.

So….when will I stop breastfeeding? I can’t answer that question myself, although many people have posed this question to me. There are so many factors governing the reason why I am still continuing with my labor of love:

  • Breastfeeding is providing Ethan the necessary nutrients and immunity he so deserves. At 14 months and counting, I am not regretting one instance of my breastfeeding journey, and I never will.
  • The price of milk powder and formula has increased with effect from this month. Breast milk is free.
  • No need to exercise as often as I need to. 😛
  • I have an excuse to excuse myself from work when I go to my company’s mothers’ room to express milk. And it’s a valid excuse! Hehe…. I’m still going twice a day at work, but plan to cut down to once a day, perhaps next month.
  • And the no. 1 reason why I am still breastfeeding is…..

Now, isn’t he inspiration enough? 😀

Eggs of Iron

Guess what exotic item I had the opportunity to eat today?

My friend bought these iron eggs from Taipei and it was my first time trying them out.  I searched the net and found out that iron eggs are actually preserved quails’ eggs.  These eggs are boiled using a special sauce and then dried.  The entire boiling and drying process is repeated thrice producing iron eggs which are chewy on the outside and of egg-yolk consistency on the inside.  Legend has it that these iron eggs came about because the old granny that owned the shop could hardly sell her soy-sauce marinated eggs, so eventually the eggs turned as hard as stone.  Strangely enough, these eggs attracted gluttons and from then on, became a legend and tourists flock to Taipei to buy these iron eggs.  Sounds icky right?  But you know what, despite its foreboding exterior, the iron eggs were surprisingly tasty and extremely addictive!  But be careful, cos quails’ eggs are calorie-laden.

My Wish List

Since I moved to Penang some 10 years ago, I have always been wishing and hoping that Penang could offer the nice things that other places offer; a case of “the grass is always greener on the other side”. Here, “the other side” I am referring to is any where other than Penang. The arrival of Queensbay Mall in Penang actually last December is a blessing because it has trimmed my list down to a respectably not-so-long one. That’s why Jusco is not in my list now… 🙂
