The Sashimi Kick

Are you a sashimi lover like me?
Do you crave the succulent taste of fresh salmon basked in wasabi?
Does your mouth water at the very sight of sashimi in Japanese restaurant windows (or like the one in the picture above), and do you find yourself not being able to restrain your urge to savour this delectable cuisine?

If you’ve answered a resounding YES to all of the above, then you are a self-professed sashimi lover like me, and you’re gonna thank me for what I am about to reveal.  Whenever I eat sashimi, I will never fail to eat it with wasabi… but of course! I would ask for the wasabi with the extra kick, because the regular wasabi just doesn’t do it for me 😉 … hey, I’m not called the wasabi queen for no reason, okay?

My favorite kind of sashimi is salmon, especially if they are sliced just right producing the right texture and succulence for my teeth to sink into….aaaahhhhh……perfection.

A couple of years back, I discovered that if one eats sashimi with plain wasabi (without soy sauce), it’s like kacang puteh. No kick at all.  But add the soy sauce, and oolalaaaa… you’ll feel it right up to your nose.  However, just last week, hubbs and I made another amazing discovery, after we got bored with the sashimi+wasabi in soy sauce kick.  Our discovery?

Sashimi + Wasabi in soy sauce + Radish strips = Fu-yooooh KICK in the highest degree!

Hey, I kid you not… go try it and let me know 😉

Online Retail Therapy

I live on retail therapy 🙂 What woman doesn’t? In fact, in addition to shopping in malls, in the past year or two, I’ve taken quite a fancy to shopping online too. Actually come to think of it, most of the baby stuff that Ethan uses (car seat, high chair, stroller, breast pump etc) were bought online. I would scour the internet for the best deals for that particular product and then place an online order. Easy-peasy, without the hassle of braving the traffic.

I think I must have visited countless baby sites online in the process of shopping for baby gear. One of the baby shops that struck my fancy was Dreamtime Baby, which carried almost everything under the sun relating to babies and kiddies at surprisingly reasonable prices. The great thing about Dreamtime Baby purchases are that they are tax-free for purchases outside of the state of Nevada. In addition, one would be able to get additional discounts on purchases made with online coupons, obtainable from CouponChief.com. For instance, currently there are Dreamtime Baby coupons available for free shipping and free toys, and as these get updated regularly, the online shopper can check for the latest coupons available too.

For the smart online shopper, I highly recommend Coupon Chief for the best in online bargains. I know I’m going there the next time I do my shopping online.

Bunnies and Eggs?

A couple of years back, a friend of mine asked me what I did for Easter.  I told her I went to church to celebrate the occasion.  She looked surprised and remarked, “Eh? Didn’t eat easter eggs ah?  No easter bunny ah?”

Is that what Easter is all about?  Sadly, a lot of people seem to believe so.  To them, Easter is primarily the embodiment of bunnies and eggs, when in actuality, Easter is celebrated by Christians worldwide as a beautiful meaningful proclamation of the resurrection of Christ.  Many many years ago today, Good Friday, Jesus Christ died for all our sins and resurrected on Easter Sunday, what we have come to know as the Passion of Christ.  This Easter, I pray that many more will know and understand the true meaning of Easter and not just link Easter with bunnies and eggs.

I love this Easter poem, Easter Reflections, penned by Helen Steiner Rice, which very simply portrays exactly what Easter is:

Easter Reflections

With OUR EYES we see
The beauty of Easter
as the earth awakens once more…

With OUR EARS we hear
The birds sing sweetly
to tell us Spring again is here…

With OUR HANDS we pick
the golden daffodils
and the fragrant hyacinths…

But only with OUR HEARTS
can we feel the MIRACLE of GOD’S LOVE
which redeems all men…

And only with OUR SOUL
can we make our ‘pilgrimage to God’
and inherit His Easter Gift of ETERNAL LIFE

Have a blessed Easter everyone! 🙂

Vacation Time!

In the past couple of years, my hubby has been travelling on business trips to the States as well as to India.  In the process of doing so, he has accumulated a fair amount of frequent flyer miles.  In fact, some of his frequent flyer miles have also previously expired without us knowing so until it was too late (no, we were not informed beforehand that the miles were gonna expire).  So this time round, we are planning to redeem these miles and go on a family vacation 🙂

It has been some time since we went on a trip, and now with Ethan around, we can’t wait to take him places!  Since Ethan is less than a year old, I think we need not buy a ticket for him, or if we do, the ticket will be at a huge discount (just 10% of the full fare or something like that).

We have tentatively decided to go to Singapore, so we’re checking out hotel rates and packages now.  In doing so, I found this awesome site where you can get great bargains on hotel rates anywhere in the world.  Hotel Reservations guarantees the lowest price on the internet as well as cash rebates for reservations made for 3 nights or more!  A quick search on hotels in the Orchard Road vicinity in Singapore produced excellent results.  I found out that I could book a 4-star hotel for less than $100 per night, and on top of that there were further discounts too; for instance, if we booked for 3 nights we could get 15% off from the price we pay!  In addition, these hotels are all within close range of the sites we planned on visiting, like the Singapore Zoological Gardens and the Underwaterworld.

In fact, the name of this site is quite misleading because apart from offering hotel reservations, one can also book flights, rent cars, vacation rentals or even book a whole vacation package here.  A truly one-stop site for the avid vacationeer.

In the nick of time

I received a pleasant surprise today, in that my humble Giddy Tigers blog has been approved by PayPerPost 🙂 .  I resubmitted my blog yesterday in the fervent hope that they would approve it, since I had a blog review pending to be written in conjunction with the “Get Paid to Review My Post” program, and the dateline was 2 days away only.

So today, I can finally submit my blog review and wait for it to be approved, fulfilling my promise to review a buddy’s blog.

How does this all work?

Requirements:

  • You must own a blog (Blogspot is fine, but wordpress.com blogs are a no-no)
  • Your blog must meet the requirements of PayPerPost (Minimum 90 days and have at least 20 posts)
  • You must have a valid PayPal account (free signup)

What you need to do:

  • You see the “Get Paid to Review My Post” button, just like the one below?

  • Just click on it, and you will be directed to the PayPerPost New User Registration page.

  • Join as a PayPerPost member for free and an opportunity to review my blog will be opened up for you.

  • Register your blog in PayPerPost and wait for it to be approved.

  • Once your blog is approved, you can review my blog, praise or critique does not matter :p but I would love to know about your review.

  • Wait for your review to be approved and when it is, you will get paid $7.50 for your efforts.  In turn, I will also get $7.50 (as compensation for the complaints….hehe…just kidding!) – It’s really a win-win situation!

  • After that, you are free to take other PayPerPost opportunities and your options are endless!

Me? I’m still waiting for that review of mine to be approved….*drums fingers*
