Would You Send Revealing Pictures of Yourself for a Shot at a RM700/day Job?

modelsunwanted

…well, apparently some girls would, in a heartbeat!  Extremely gullible girls, I would add.  Girls, aged 20+, would willingly answer an online ad, without further probing and investigation, and send their portfolios to an unknown address, in the hope of cashing in.

How do I know this, you would ask?

Well, let’s just say I stumbled on this when just last weekend, I was surprised to received emails from people claiming to respond to an ad for lingerie models.  One of these emails provided me the source where this ad originated from, and horror of horrors, I discovered that the advertiser had used my company’s logo, name, URL and phone number, soliciting for lingerie models.  The ad purportedly needed lingerie models for a 2-day shoot, where the successful candidates would be paid RM700 upfront and the remainder of RM700 at the end of the shoot.  Applicants were invited to send in their detailed resume, portfolios and photos, “preferably in an undergarment shoot”.  The potential “models” were also “reassured” that the photographer would be a female one, and they could also bring their boyfriend along if they wanted to!

If Cod Costs Less, I would Cook this Every Day!

grilledcod1

It’s such an easy dish to make, and rather idiot-proof.  No marination necessary and cooking time is only less than 15 minutes.  Best of all, it’s yummy, nutritious and is suitable for everyone!

I’d always steamed cod, but I guess because of the *fishy* smell, my kids sometimes don’t fancy it too much.  So I’d wanted to try grilling it to see how it turns out.  I found this recipe online, which seemed fairly simple, so I made it just the other day.  Hubby says it tasted good, though a tad oily, but it’s really mostly natural oil from the oily cod fish, i.e. “healthy oils”.

And like I said, if cod fish were that much cheaper, I’d cook this every day!  Here’s the recipe I used:

Que Sera Sera, Whatever Will Be, Will Be…

Years ago, when I was still undecided on what I wanted to be when I grew up, I toyed around with the idea of business administration.  Sure, it sounded mighty grand and intriguing, administrating a business of your own.  Well, eventually, I ended up in the science stream, where it was *not the norm* for science stream students to pursue business administration.  Science stream students ended up doing computer science, engineering, physics, chemistry and all that.

However, upon attaining the basic science-related degree, some graduates do opt to pursue a business course, more often than not, a Masters in Business Administration, or more fondly known as the MBA.  At the point of my graduation though, I did not have the urge to get an MBA.  But every now and then, I meet an acquaintance, an old school friend, an ex-varsity pal, a relative who has completed his/her MBA or is currently pursuing the MBA.  Sometimes I do ponder if this person is taking the MBA because of their own interests or due to pressure from society, or maybe it’s just because the title entitles the holder to that much more moolah in the payslip.

In any case, little did I know that even without the paper qualification of an MBA, I would be managing and administrating my own business now.  Solely relying on my own instincts and consumer business acumen, I believe that apart from paper qualification, excellent customer service is crucial in the process of successfully managing and administrating a business, and it’s something that no examination can teach.

That being said, nothing is ever 100% impossible.  Who knows, a few years down the line, I might find myself pursuing an MBA.  If or when that happens, I know for sure that before I do, I will want to pass my GMAT with flying colors.  The GMAT is the Graduate Management Admission Test, which is the main criteria for admission into graduate business administration courses primarily in America.  In Malaysia, there are GMAT classes available too, but if I had a choice I would choose to attend one of these Chicago gmat classes, mainly for their track record and experience, be it in-person or live online.

Until then, I’m content just managing the home, the kids, food and the works 🙂

We’ll Never Walk Alone…

liv1

Oh yes, we were there… the picture above was taken about 1.5 hours before the kickoff of Liverpool vs Malaysia.  The stadium was already swarming with Kopites.  Please excuse the sleepy face and absence of makeup on me 😛

We’d actually arrived at about 3:40p.m., to a carnival-like atmosphere, all the way from the Bukit Jalil LRT station to the entrance of the stadium.

Although Steven Gerrard could not be there, there were mini replicas everywhere…

Fans slowly filling up the stadium…this photo was taken at 4:06p.m., about 1 hour 45 minutes before kickoff.

My Maple Roast Chicken Rawks!

mapleroastchicken

Today I am a happy Mommy.  Not so much because a recipe I concocted on the fly didn’t taste all that bad, in fact my kids loved it!  They asked for seconds and all…and the recipe is not difficult to make too 🙂

This recipe is really inspired by the roast chicken my father-in-law used to cook.  It has been years since I’ve eaten it, so I figured why not I try it today…my backup plan (if this did not turn out) was to ask hubby to buy something back for dinner, but I am glad I didn’t have to resort to that.

Well, I’m just happy to add another chicken dish to my list of things to cook.  Here’s my recipe for Maple Roast Chicken.  If you do try it out, please let me know how this dish turns out 🙂
