Happy New Year everyone! Hope everyone had the grandest of celebrations, and is all set to kick off the New Year with a bang!
On New Year’s Day, when most of the restaurants are closed (or so we thought), we decided to have a comfy cozy lunch at home. To jazz up our menu in a giddy manner, I whipped up some homemade hamburgers.
Oh yes, I did.
If you haven’t tried making hamburgers at home, you should! It’s super easy to make, and the result is a moist and juicy burger which you know for sure what went into it. Score on all counts, I’d say.
Here’s my recipe for Homemade Hamburgers. Do give it a try and let me know what you think.
Homemade Hamburgers (Makes about 7 large patties or 8 medium ones)
Ingredients
- 1 lb minced beef (you could substitute with chicken too, I suppose)
- 1 medium sized yellow onion, finely minced
- 2 eggs
- 5-6 cream crackers (I used Keebler’s Club crackers)
- 2 Tbsp shredded cheddar cheese
- A splash of worchestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- Crush the crackers with your hands and sprinkle over the minced beef.
- Add the eggs, cheddar cheese, onion and worchestershire sauce.
- Mix the mixture well, using either a fork or with your hands. Personally I find using my hands easier.
- Add some salt and pepper to taste and mix well.
- Form the mixture into balls and put them onto a plate or storing container.
- Drizzle some olive oil on them, and either grill right away, and place in the fridge to store.
- Heat up the grill or grilling pan, and grill the burger patties, pressing gently to flatten them out a bit.
- Remove once cooked and let cool.
- Serve with your favorite hamburger buns and toppings. I used sliced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, mustard and ketchup. A slice of cheese would add that extra ooomph too. 🙂
What I love about this recipe is that it’s so straightforward and simple, and even better, my family loves it…even my picky eater. What’s more, I’m getting vegetables and meat into him, including onions! 🙂
I’m definitely making burgers again at home! 😀
Ummm yummms! This post makes my stomach growl. Indeed seems easy and fast to make. I’m going to give it a try one of these weekends! So into cooking these days too 🙂
The Giddy Tigress says: Awesome! Cooking at home is therapeutic and addictive I tell you, but cleaning up is not as fun! Let me know how it turns out!
Looks really good! I guess you can be certain of 100% meat in your burgers if you make them yourself.
The Giddy Tigress says: You bet! I made some burgers a few years ago, but they turned out hard and yucky, so I was quite pleased when these were a success! Even more so when my boy keeps asking me to make them again! 🙂
