The Sunflower Beauty Oil That Wowed Me Over

sunflower1

When I think of sunflower oil, I think of big beautiful cheerful-looking yellow flowers beaming in the sunlight.  And yes, sometimes I think of the oil some people use for cooking too.  Heh.

Who would have thought that sunflower oil would also have such a tremendously positive effect on skin?!  So when this bottle of Human Nature Sunflower Beauty Oil arrived on my desk, I was pretty excited about trying it out.  Human Nature products are products that contain NO harmful chemicals, are social enterprise, fair trade, environmentally friendly, and pocket friendly.  Over in Malaysia, The Human Nature range of products are exclusively marketed and distributed by Down to Earth.

I learnt that the Human Nature Sunflower Beauty Oil is their #1 bestseller and boasts 17 beauty miracles in just that one bottle!  It is made from 100% pure premium cosmetic grade sunflower oil, so please bear in mind that this is NOT the same as the oil we use for cooking, yeah?

My first favorable impression of this miracle oil is that its ingredient list only had ONE item: premium cosmetic grade Helianthus annuus (sunflower) oil.  That’s good for me, because I am allergic to a host of stuff, and the less things a product contains, the better.  It helps too, if I am able to pronounce the ingredients in that particular product.

The 50ml Sunflower Beauty Oil comes in a handy pump bottle, which fits nicely in your hand.  The oil is quite runny and light in texture, with a very slight yellow tint.

I decided to try it on my face and usually use two pumps, rub it in my palms and apply it liberally all over my face.  The instructions on the bottle say that the sunflower beauty oil can also be applied to the eye area, as it helps to get rid of dark undereye circles, of which I unfortunately suffer from.

I found that using this sunflower oil was sufficient to act as serum and moisturizer, as my skin felt soft and moisturized upon application.  The oil is absorbed easily and is fragrance-free.  My skin did not feel oily either, but I found that the effects would only last about 10 hours or so.  So if I apply it in the morning, my skin would not be as moisturized at the end of the day when I take my shower.  Not a big deal for me, because it doesn’t cause my skin to feel taut and dry.

The major upside is that the effect I obtained from using this Human Nature Sunflower Beauty Oil is similar to that of using serums from high-end brands.  Some use the brown bottle and some the blue bottle, you know? 🙂  However, the Human Nature Sunflower Beauty Oil  costs only RM22.90 for 50ml, PLUS it doesn’t contain any harmful and synthetic chemicals!  For that price, and what it does, it definitely sounds like a win:win situation to me!

Here is the list of the 17 beauty miracles this oil claims to perform:

  1. Softens and lightens underarms
  2. Lightens dark undereye circles
  3. Lightens dark spots and pimple marks
  4. Under eye moisturizer
  5. Prevents and diminishes the appearance of stretch marks
  6. Softens feet soles, knees and elbows
  7. Removes stubborn make-up
  8. Overall body moisturizer
  9. Moisturizes dry hair ends
  10. Softens the cuticles
  11. De-frizzes hair
  12. Adds shine to dull hair
  13. Relieves itching and inflamation caused by insect bites
  14. Nourishes and conditions eyelashes
  15. Lightens dark lips (???)
  16. Soothes skin after shaving
  17. Relieves itchy scalp
  18. So did it live up to its claims?

Well to be honest, I only tested it on claim #2, 3 and 4.  I used it twice a day (morning and night).  It did not remove all of my dark undereye circles, but it certainly helped to make the eye area more moisturized.  Perhaps with repeated and constant use, the dark circles would be eliminated totally (*hopeful*).  However, I felt my complexion becoming more even and skin more moisturized, with slight reduction of pigmentation. The oil does not say anything about reducing wrinkles though…not that I have any obvious ones to begin with…ahem…

I was hoping the Human Nature Sunflower Beauty Oil would also help me with my cracked skin on my hands but alas, it only helped temporarily soothe it and not eliminate it altogether.  I was however, happy that the oil did not cause further flare-ups of my eczema-suffering hands.

I had also wanted to try the Human Nature Sunflower Beauty Oil on my hair, but unfortunately I enjoyed using it so much on my face that I’m almost done with my bottle and have not had a chance to try it on my hair yet.  Perhaps that will be saved for another bottle!

If you’re looking for a beauty treat for your face, some pampering and TLC that works really well, without the harmful chemicals and whatnots, AND is very affordable to boot, look no further than the Human Nature Sunflower Beauty Oil.  You might be pleasantly surprised at the efficacy of this unassuming small wonder, as was I!
