Get your chores done and a check to boot!

My hubby calls me a TV addict, and well, that about sums it all.  I watch TV religiously, even with a kid in tow now, and I especially like series and soap operas.  If you’re a TV junkie like me, I bet you would have heard about the very popular CBS soap opera As The World Turns (ATWT). Now what would you say if I told you that Brad (Austin Peck) and Katie (Terri Colombino) were gonna pay you a visit and do your least favorite chore?  It could be anything from cleaning the toilet, washing your car, polishing the sofa or even babysitting for a few hours?

Well, NOW you have the chance.  CBS is running a Win A Day With Brad & Katie contest, whereby the winner will win a day with the stars of ATWT.  And that’s not all, the lucky winner will also walk away with a check worth $5,000!  Is that a good deal or what?!

A Whole New World

Last Saturday, we visited the newly opened New World Park hawker center in Swatow Lane.  I heard that in pre-war times, this very same area housed an amusement park by the same name.  Well anyway, now the area contains almost all the hawkers from the nearby (famous) Swatow Lane coffee shop.  What’s good about this new hawker center is the ample car park available.  It’s not free, but is quite canggih cos they’ve got these car park payment machines, much like the ones they have at malls.  Car park is 50 sen for the 1st hour I think.

Here’s a mouth-watering look at what we had:

And a picture of satisfaction after the scrumptious meal:

Putting the ‘bling’ in ‘blogging’

Lately there have been several new companies jumping on the bandwagon of advertising in blogs.  These companies typically offer a win-win situation: the advertiser gets to advertise their products and the bloggers get to make some money running the ads for the advertisers.

Do you know what the latest buzz in Malaysia is right now?  Read my lips (or my post 😛 ): Advertlets.  Or affectionately called Little Adverts, if you may.

I registered myself in Advertlets today because I was curious to explore how this company can help monetize my blog.  From what I have read, Advertlets could very well be Malaysia’s answer to PayPerPost!  This is very exciting to all Malaysian bloggers especially because now we get to blog and review products which are close to our hearts as the advertisers would most likely be local ones, and hence the personal touch of blog advertising.  It’s no wonder that the tagline for Advertlets is:

advertisers + bloggers = money + happy

As a start, Advertlets is running a very attractive promotion right now, where all you need to do is to review Advertlets and in turn, you will be paid RM50 for your effort.  Hey, RM50 might not be much,  but it can buy me 20 bowls of laksa, you know! 🙂  However, this offer is only limited to the first 300 bloggers who review their site, so what are you waiting for?  Hurry up, sign up with Advertlets today, and blog blog blog!

10 Reasons I Married My Hubby

This tag comes from Immomsdaughter, and she wants to know of 10 reasons I married my other giddy half.  Of course, this tag is also an excuse to know that I still exist, since she claims that I vanished into thin air after tagging her the last time. Heh heh heh….

Why did I marry the man I call my hubby now?

  1. He surprised me with the most romantic proposal a girl could every ask for.  Flowers, a lavish dinner, wine and of course the most beautiful engagement ring I had ever seen.  And when someone goes down on bended knee with all the above factored in, how could I possibly say no? 🙂
  2. He understands me emotionally, gives me enough alone time and is supportive of me in everything I do.
  3. We both share a special private sense of humor.  In fact, very frequently, we find ourselves completing each others’s sentences effortlessly.
  4. He absolutely does blue jeans justice 😉
  5. He is a self-professed perfectionist, and that is the reason he will quote when he is asked why he married me. *perasan*
  6. He gives awesome back rubs!
  7. We are both die-hard Liverpool fans! Go Reds!
  8. He has a terrific eye for detail, and is a fantastic interior designer.
  9. His integrity and honesty just melts my heart.
  10. We both just simply look good together 🙂 … See?

I’m not tagging anyone for this cos I don’t know anyone who hasn’t done this one yet.  But if you wanna have a go at this one, let me know and I’ll hook you up.

PayPal Clarified

Pursuant to my previous post on getting my blog approved by PayPerPost, there have been a couple of conflicting opinions on PayPal, which I think I can finally clarify:

  • To open a PayPal account is completely FREE
  • In order to receive funds in your PayPal account, you will need to enter a credit card number (of course, a credit card with the name that corresponds with yours)
  • However, you have the option to leave your PayPal account unverified.  In the case of a Malaysian like me, your PayPal status will show up as “Malaysian – Unverified“.
  • If your account is unverified, your sending limit is limited to $1,000.00.  This means that you may transfer funds from your PayPal account up to $1,000.00 only.  I’m assuming this amount will decrease as you transfer funds out of your account, and the sending limit is not for a one-time transfer only.  For example, if you transfer $500.00 out of your account, your sending limit will be readjusted to $500.00.
  • If you want to transfer more than $1000.00, you will need to get your account verified for Expanded Use.  To do this, PayPal will charge $1.95 to the credit card you specified have specified in your account.  An account that has been verified for Expanded Use enables the PayPal account holder to transfer unlimited funds.  In addition, if you are a verified PayPal account holder, this increases your online reputation and makes transactions with other PayPal members easier.  Imagine, if you are an unverified member, when you transfer your funds, the word “Unverified” will show up next to your name when you make the transfer, making the transaction a  little bit suspect, right?
  • According to PayPal, the $1.95 Expanded Use fee charged for account verification will be returned to your PayPal account as a bonus after you complete the enrollment in the Expanded Use Program.  You will need to acquire the 4-digit Expanded Use number which will appear in your credit card statement (after the $1.95 has been charged), and key in this 4-digit number to complete the enrollment, and get the $1.95 bonus.  So in actuality, the upgrade is FREE.

My account right now is not verified yet, but I will do it soon.  Looks like an okay deal to me.
