Have You Ever Used Body Lotion on Your Face?

This could be one of the craziest beauty-related and skin-related things I have ever done, but certainly one that I do not regret.

It happened somewhere in the middle of my recent pregnancy, when I was about to run out of my regular face moisturizer.  My face was severely dehydrated and even though I was religiously applying moisturizer and serums, it still looked neglected.  Blame it on pregnancy hormones or what you may.  At that time I was using the Dr Bronner’s Organic Hand & Body Shikakai Soap as a shower gel and I was loving it (as was my skin), so I decided to check if Dr Bronner carried a face moisturizer too.

Alas, the customer representative told me that they do not have face moisturizers but she informed me that I could use the Dr Bronner’s Magic Lotion for Hands & Body on my face.  In fact, she told me that she uses it too.  No…really, seriously??!  But …but…it says “HANDS and BODY”!!!  Every cell in my body was screaming no, but I was still curious.

The Dr Bronner’s Magic Lotion for Hands & Body has a small amount of alcohol in it, which acts as an astringent, so no separate toner is needed.  The caveat was that it did not come in an unscented version.

Here’s the actual email message I received from their representative:

Thanks for writing.  Our lotions are perfectly safe to use on your face.  It’s nice and light, so they absorb quickly into the skin and do not clog pores.  Our lotions contain a small amount of organic alcohol which acts as a toner.  I used to use synthetic based lotions for my face and I’ve always seemed to breakout, but now that I’m using Dr. Bronner’s lotion, my skin is much clearer and feels much softer. Unfortunately we do not make an unscented lotion but we have an unscented body balm and coconut oil that are great for added moisture.

After weighing the pros and cons, I decided to give it a go, and chose the Lavender Coconut flavor.  I placed my order via iHerb.com and received it a couple of days later (excellent customer service as usual from iHerb.com).

Well let’s just say that after that first use, I haven’t looked back since.  The lotion has a very pleasant smell…of course, I’m a lavender-loving gal as it is..but most importantly, it went on easily on my skin and was absorbed fairly quickly.  My face didn’t feel dry and on the contrary, it felt smooth and hydrated.  The hydrating effect lasts all the way through the night too!

I simply clean my face as normal and then apply my eye cream, followed by my serum and then apply the magic lotion.  It’s THAT simple!  And after that I just rub my hands together with the remnants of the lotion and they feel so soft and supple!  The lotion itself is not thick but is slightly on the runny side, but it’s not watery.  It’s light but yet enough to provide the hydration the skin needs.

What’s great too is that the lotion works on the ENTIRE body!  Hands, feet, face, neck… 🙂

I love it so much that I just reordered my second bottle!  Terrific stuff, this…

Body lotion is usually a no-no on the face for the simple reason that it might be too HEAVY a formulation, but in this case, I beg to differ.  Have you used body lotion on your face before?  Well, this is ONE body lotion that you can and definitely must try on your face.  I did, and I LOVE it.

Again, thx for introducing this site to me. I love Dr Brooner Hair cream . The shampoo is a little thick so after 1 bottle, I resort to just using natural soap for hair. Bought recently Hugo Natural Orange Mist when it was usd1. cheap cheap bought and like it 🙂

Wished you’ve written this review earlier; I just ordered a whole load of stuff from iherb to be shipped to Dubai. Apparently normal international postage doesn’t work here so we have to use private courier like DHL, UPS etc. So I might as well order things in bulk right? Anyways I was looking for a good face moisturizer before I came too, would have definitely try this next time. I’m now trying the Laneige Waterbank cream and essence. Not unscented though but so far so good…

The Giddy Tigress says: I thought iHerb changed their shipping policy for international orders recently and all international orders to Malaysia are also via DHL, no? Oh yeah, this moisturizer I am recommending is really a “dark horse” I would say. It’s great to use, but the only complaint I have is that iHerb should offer it in a bigger packaging. Let me know how you like it when you try it 🙂
